00:08 Shane-S_ I am off myself...time to relax...I spent my day off learning how to install...no wait... jcamins_away basically installed it...koha :)

01:45 Space_Librarian hello you lovely people - I've a silly question.
01:46 what do our patrons need to select to be notified of holds placed?
01:46 jcamins_away I blame the Oompa Loompas.
01:46 ^^ silly answer
01:46 Space_Librarian I blame Storm Troopers
01:47 :)
01:47 ibeardslee I was going to say 'pumpkin soup'
01:47 jcamins_away I'm not sure.
01:47 Space_Librarian Apparently no notification/confirmation of hold placed really is a big issue.
01:47 Trying to firefight and educate
01:48 ibeardslee use the gassy end of the fire estinguisher to fight the fire and the heavy blunt end to educate
01:48 extinguisher
01:48 Space_Librarian that's the plan
01:55 seriously though. I've read the manual, and I've tweaked what I can. I know there's an email for holds to pick up, but is there one to confirm holds placed?
01:56 jcamins_away Space_Librarian: I'm not sure.
01:56 Space_Librarian glad it ain't just me... :)
01:56 jcamins_away I don't think about circ much.
01:57 Space_Librarian ping rangi - do you, oh oracle, know the answer?
02:23 mtj Space_Librarian:  you want an email every time you place a hold?
02:24 s/you/a person/ :)
02:25 i think that may be a missing feature, currently....? :/   and hi! :)
02:26 Space_Librarian The patron wants a confirmation email. The library email was getting spammed.
02:26 And hi!
02:26 mtj aaah, so the feature is there-ish...
02:27 but the trick is to use the patrons email, not the default library-admin one
02:27 or both emails (of course)
02:31 Space_Librarian and how would be do that?
02:34 mtj hmmm, i might have to pass on that Q  the mo :/   i'm in the middle of something
02:35 its been a while since i looked at the email/notices stuff
02:37 try the Koha list first? ,  its possible someone has a workaround already
02:40 Space_Librarian tis... :)
02:40 jcamins I'm still trying to figure out why on earth someone would want that.
02:41 Space_Librarian heavens knows.
02:41 these are accountants
02:42 jcamins How does one do a class constant in Perl?
02:43 Does one do class constants in Perl?
02:43 Is this a profoundly bad idea?
02:44 * jcamins is trying to centralize the single invisible pixel gif.
02:45 jcamins Sorry, I didn't mean class constant. I meant package constant, apparently.
02:47 I want to be able to have the following line work from scripts:  print C4::Images->noimage;
02:48 Space_Librarian And can we rename "public list" to something else?
02:48 * Space_Librarian is going to go postal at people at work soon.
02:49 jcamins Space_Librarian: you could use jQuery.
02:49 Or a translation.
02:49 wahanui a translation is done through the pref files
02:49 Space_Librarian I need something quick and dirty for now. These people are being real pendants
02:50 jcamins Space_Librarian: it could be done using jQuery, but I don't know off the top of my head the jQuery that would be necessary.
02:50 What do they want them called?
02:50 Oh, I can just do a sub that doesn't take any arguments.
02:51 wizzyrea1 joined #koha
02:51 Space_Librarian They want it called "Informed Professional"
02:52 jcamins Space_Librarian: what?
02:52 Space_Librarian: that was a shocked "what?" not an "I didn't hear you" what.
02:52 Space_Librarian The public list. They want it to be renamed "The Informed Professional"
02:52 Yes. I know.
02:53 This has been a day of stupidity.
02:53 And apparently I can make it all just so.
02:53 jcamins heh.
02:53 Gotta love go-lives.
02:53 Space_Librarian Just because I can read code, doesn't mean I can code.
02:53 And we've been live for a while.
02:56 * jcamins has learned that he's not actually very good at Scrabble.
02:57 jcamins wizzyrea started out with twice my score, and she's maintained that... unfortunately, this means that she's now *way* ahead of me.
02:58 wizzyrea actually, it has more to do with uh, leaving those triple word squares open :p
02:58 jcamins I'm not trying!
02:58 I mean, I'm not trying to leave them open.
02:58 I just have no choice.
02:59 eythian Space_Librarian: that should be easy to change with jquery
02:59 assuming it's got the IDs on the bits that say 'public list'
02:59 wizzyrea and if there are no id's, we could add some for you :P
02:59 * wizzyrea imagines id's on bits. giggles.
03:00 eythian you can just do $("#theidofthething").setText("Informed Potato"); in the opacuserjs
03:00 * jcamins giggles at the Informed Potato suggestion.
03:01 * wizzyrea informs your potato
03:01 Space_Librarian Well, I need to know where to go first. Pretty pissed off that they're demanding this now, with no previous warning, an hour before releasing the bulletin.
03:02 And I got into serious trouble for questioning the reasons for why this needs to be done anyway.
03:02 * Space_Librarian rolls eyes
03:02 eythian Why don't they just call the list "Informed Professional - March 2012", that way public lists can be used for other things.
03:03 (I assume that's how they're intending to use it, right?)
03:03 wizzyrea Space_Librarian: gimme a sec
03:03 Space_Librarian because there are several small public lists that comprise the Informed Professional.
03:04 And your argument, eythian, was my argument
03:04 eythian ah I see
03:04 Space_Librarian sometimes the stupidity burns.
03:04 where'd that fire extinguisher go?
03:05 wizzyrea so they want it to say "the informed professional" instead of "lists"
03:05 just making sure I understand
03:05 or instead of "public lists" *under* lists
03:07 Space_Librarian wizzyrea: yes
03:08 preferably both, but since nobody can see the private lists, lists would be informed professional
03:19 wizzyrea Space_Librarian: try $("h4:contains('Public Lists')").html("The Informed Professional");
03:20 not as specific as I would like but the id's are slightly sparse there.
03:20 mtj jcamins:  ps: i sorted my ajax template/translate problems nicely :)
03:20 jcamins mtj: excellent!
03:20 mtj was an easy solution, after a little thought
03:21 jcamins Oh?
03:21 mtj and you were on the right track too - define a JS function in the .tt file
03:22 jcamins Yay!
03:22 mtj so, the js function just gets translated with everything else in the template
03:22 pretty obv. really :)
03:23 jcamins I have tried the fancy git PS1.
03:23 I don't like it.
03:24 wizzyrea ps1?
03:24 jcamins Prompt.
03:25 It's slow, and displays incorrect information.
03:26 So, not really beneficial here.

03:52 eythian So as part of my series of rants titled "No proprietary library software can export unambiguously parsable CSV", I now introduce this one that exports as XML. _Invalid_ XML, mind you.
03:52 jcamins Well done!
03:53 wizzyrea lerd.
03:53 jcamins And that's with the "CSV" option?
03:53 :)
04:00 eythian jcamins: no, it's quite horrible really. The only way we can get data out is by running a report that luckily has an option for XML.
04:00 I'm going to be relinking items and biblios by using title/author/publication info as there's no unique ID to match them
04:01 jcamins Oh, lovely.
04:01 * druthb shudders.
04:02 eythian yeah.
04:02 I'm hoping that over the next wee while, we eradicate this software from the country.
04:12 This one is only in use in a handful of places that I know about.
04:14 wizzyrea dare we ask

06:05 Oak what's new cait
06:05 cait where have you been hiding? :)
06:05 Oak exams!
06:06 now have to do a project, and it *must* be some practical work in a library
06:06 cait oh
06:06 eythian Oak: howdy
06:06 wahanui niihau, eythian
06:06 cait and do you have a project?
06:06 Oak i was thinking how about pick a small library and get them to start using Koha...
06:07 I am meeting my project supervisor today and another management guy from university to discuss that
06:07 i mean to discuss the possibilities
06:09 cait cool idea :)
06:11 Oak if i can get a decent computer from the library (the one i'll get to start using Koha), and set up Koha in say one week (installed, tested), then I could start cataloging, and say I catalog 2000 books using copy catalog, *that* should count as a project... that's what I want to discuss.
06:12 but about the acquisitions module and other modules, plus the training of staff etc, i'm not clear about these things.
06:12 cait hm perhaps circulation training
06:12 cataloging + circulation + opac
06:12 Oak also, i'm no Koha expert. but you are all here, and manuals Wikis are there. so. that's why i am considering it
06:13 hmmm.
06:14 and can Koha + 2000 books + cataloging, circulation, opac be done in 2 months if I work all day on it (~8 hours), asked my boss that I'll work in night time...
06:15 cait I think configuration is not so hard
06:15 and telling them how to do it should not be much more
06:15 probably the cataloging
06:15 will take longest
06:15 but when you catalog, it#s good to know how they want to circulate the items later, so you catalog with the right itemtypes and such
06:16 Oak hmm
06:17 well, i'll be doing this in morning time... so i'll have all day to work on this for next 2 months... i think it is doable...
06:17 laurence joined #koha
06:19 Oak is it doable? or am i being to optimistic in giving it 2 months?
06:19 too*
06:21 cait it perhaps depends on how much you know already

06:21 cait about Koha
06:21 Oak yes
06:21 cait hard to tell for m
06:21 Oak i don't know much
06:22 cait but you know how to install koha
06:22 Oak yup
06:22 cait hm
06:23 perhaps talk to your advisor
06:23 what they expect
06:23 Oak yes, that should be done first

10:45 got a command line by quitting koha, I suppose that's a start
10:48 slef dgl_library: not sure what a koha management console is :)
10:48 dgl_library slef: hmm, what do you see on your server when koha is running?
10:49 slef: at this end it looks like DOS or SSH terminal program… just text. it shows the IP address of Koha.
10:52 slef dgl_library: login prompt, or whatever we're doing on it.
10:52 dgl_library slef: it says "-bash: cd: /var/log/apache2/: Permission denied"
10:52 slef dgl_library: sudo -i, then you will be the superuser and have all permissions, but tread carefully
10:54 dgl_library sorry for the noob question, but I've accessed the folder. now how do I view the error log?
11:03 slef dgl_library: less error.log # or similar
11:04 dgl_library: or instead of less, you can use more or pg or view or ... there's more than one way to do it
11:04 dgl_library: I think the works-on-all-debian-way is: sensible-pager error.log # but that's a lot of typing
11:04 (please excuse delays, I am at work)
11:05 dgl_library slef: no problem at all, thanks so much for taking the time. trying that now.
11:07 wizzyrea joined #koha
11:07 dgl_library ok, looking at the log now. not sure there's a way to copy and paste from the virtual machine, but I'm seeing one error repeated a lot: authorities.pl: Argument "68a" in numeric ge …… blah blah ...... in authorities.pl line 263
11:08 same with Argument "68b"
11:09 slef well, locate authorities.pl might tell you where it is, then cd to its folder and less +263 authorities.pl will open it to the right line.  I don't recognise that error but my memory is bad.
11:10 or you could maybe find the version on git.koha-community.org and find authorities.pl in it and then give us a link to the line
11:10 ah, but have you looked at the end of the log file (press > if you used less)
11:11 glernil joined #koha
11:13 dgl_library the log file is huge
11:14 several more errors
11:16 went to git but can't seem to locate the actual files, so will try in debian here
11:16 wizzyrea in git you look for "tree"
11:16 it looks just like the file system under there.

11:17 wizzyrea ah I made a bad assumption, I assumed they went to git.koha-community.org and couldn't find the files
11:18 slef wizzyrea: good assumption

11:42 the first question?
11:42 wahanui i heard the first question was "What are you trying to do?"
11:42 slef the original problem?
11:43 wahanui: the original problem was that something created the universe and it's all gone downhill from there.
11:43 wahanui slef: what?
11:43 slef wahanui: the original problem is that something created the universe and it's all gone downhill from there.
11:43 wahanui OK, slef.
11:43 slef yay tenses!
11:43 wizzyrea :)
11:47 dgl_library the original problem: strange behavior in our koha admin panel. (hope I'm not answering a bot here)
11:47 magnus_afk wizzyrea is definitely not a bot :-)
11:48 wizzyrea :) define "strange"
11:49 magnuse wizzyrea: http://stats.workbuffer.org/ir[…]12-03-08#i_912572
11:49 wizzyrea ah yea, I go back to my original thesis that something must have gone funny during the db update
11:50 dgl_library wizzyrea (I'll take magnus's word you're not a bot if you'll vouch for him as well): the original problem is that I'm trying to set up Koha, using the Koha Virtual Appliance. the problems listed in the link above started before I ever updated — the update was an attempt to rectify the problems
11:50 wizzyrea he's not a bot. Only wahanui, huginn, and jenkins are bots
11:51 dgl_library no link to Add Items, and no options to Set Privileges under Patrons (Staff)
11:51 magnuse and pastebot, i think
11:51 wizzyrea what user are you logged in as?
11:51 dgl_library kohaadmin
11:51 wahanui i guess kohaadmin is the db user
11:51 wizzyrea sounds like you have staff permissions, but no rights to do anything else
11:52 dgl_library hmm
11:52 wizzyrea just to make sure, you are logging into the staff side and not the OPAC
11:52 ?
11:52 dgl_library definitely am, I can change all kinds of system preferences
11:52 * wizzyrea can't sleep, might as well help.
11:52 dgl_library and create patrons and all sorts of things
11:53 wizzyrea oh, have you defined patron categories?
11:53 and item types?
11:53 dgl_library yes
11:53 yes
11:53 uh, one sec
11:53 item types… let me check
11:53 I figured it would be easier to use the unconfigured Koha Virtual Appliance rather than go in and change all the preconfigured settings in the Configured version, but none of these problems exist in the Configured version (same user — kohaadmin) so I must be missing some key step in the setup
11:53 wizzyrea are you trying to use authorities? flipped the pref for "biblio adds authorities"
11:54 yep, seems likely
11:54 dgl_library haven't done anything about Authorities
11:54 in fact, the only link under Cataloging is Authorities
11:54 and I can't really fully understand what they are, so a bit lost there. but do I need to set up Authorities before I can get the other bits working?
11:54 wizzyrea no no, not necessary
11:54 dgl_library brb
11:59 sorry, back now
11:59 I have defined a few item types
12:00 Patron types and categories as well
12:00 I have tested the Marc frameworks
12:00 wizzyrea anything working better?
12:00 dgl_library no, I set all that days ago
12:01 in fact I followed an implementation checklist I found on the website. still nothing.
12:01 wizzyrea do you have libraries defined?
12:01 or a library defined
12:02 dgl_library yes, one. but every time I log in, I have to select it manually.
12:02 wizzyrea well yea, kohaadmin is the super-superlibrarian
12:02 dgl_library also as I mentioned there are no Add Items options in any menu, but if I manually navigate to http://x.x.x.x:8080/cgi-bin/ko[…]guing/addbooks.pl I can see it
12:02 I see.
12:02 wizzyrea you said you could create patrons - but you can't set permissions on them?
12:03 dgl_library I did try to create a standard Staff account for myself, but as I mentioned, one of the problems is that …… yes, exactly.
12:03 More > Set Permissions shows a button that says "Set Flags" and nothing else
12:03 wizzyrea it doesn't have an error, it just doesn't show?
12:03 dgl_library I click it and am returned to the Patron's details screen
12:03 wizzyrea ok, go to more -> about koha
12:03 dgl_library no error, and no options
12:04 wizzyrea click on the Perl Modules tab
12:04 any missing?
12:04 dgl_library http://mibpaste.com/SlBQGd
12:04 there's the About info
12:04 wizzyrea click the perl modules tab
12:04 dgl_library ah, I see... just a sec
12:05 Modern::Perl and DateTime::Format::ICal
12:05 that should be Modern:: Perl
12:05 wizzyrea hm, that wouldn't cause this problem.
12:06 Culiforge left #koha
12:06 wizzyrea it has to be that something somewhere is unconfigured.
12:06 do you have the option to drop this db and install fresh?
12:06 dgl_library well, here's a question from an alternative approach: can I export all my current settings, and then import them into a setup of Koha that works properly (i.e. the Configured version of the Koha Virtual Appliance)?
12:07 I mean, I've already invested a few days into inputting the settings… I'd at least like to be able to print them out somehow, if I can't export-import them
12:07 but yes, I suppose I could. I haven't entered any books yet.
12:08 wizzyrea back up koha?
12:08 boo
12:08 I hoped wahanui had the link for that . :)
12:08 back up koha is at http://wiki.koha-community.org[…]i/Backing_up_Koha
12:09 dgl_library backup koha?
12:09 wizzyrea but, all of the config is in the DB
12:09 dgl_library of course if the problem is in the way I've configured Koha, backup and restore would most likely get me the same errors, right?
12:09 wizzyrea yep
12:09 what I would probably do
12:09 dgl_library right, that's what you just said
12:10 wizzyrea you're in a bit of a sunk cost moment
12:10 dgl_library (sinking feeling in stomach)
12:10 wizzyrea it would be faster to start over with a few of the sample options defined
12:11 than to try and fix this, I have a sense.
12:11 make sure you get the authorized values, sample patron categories
12:11 sample libraries, mmm that's up to you.
12:12 the z39.50 servers wouldn't hurt.
12:12 sample holidays
12:12 dgl_library the Configured version of the KVA works right out of the box — sample libraries, sample everything. without any setup, I can add books from Z39.50 servers, which are also predefined.
12:12 wizzyrea yea, if you just drop the db (and create a new one) in the VM, it should run you through the installer
12:12 where you can pick
12:12 what sample data you want
12:13 dgl_library oh really?
12:13 I didn't realize that!
12:13 wizzyrea well in standard koha (installed from packages or from the tarball) it does that
12:13 it stands to reason that it might work in the VM
12:13 it's still koha :P
12:14 i've not ever used the VM, it's not a vehicle that we normally spend a lot of time supporting here
12:14 dgl_library ……searching for the drop db option……
12:14 wizzyrea (most people use packages)
12:15 the VM was contributed by someone in the community, and really only they know properly how it works.
12:15 dgl_library I see, the thing is that I was that we ordered a dedicated server, which I was going to install debian on, but it won't arrive til tomorrow, so I've been working on the Koha VA and figured I'd just move the file later to the server
12:15 didn't realize it was a technical outlier…
12:15 perhaps I'll start from scratch on the new server then
12:16 wizzyrea I think you'll be happier in the long run
12:16 dgl_library yes, I think you may be right
12:16 the only thing is Debian…
12:16 wizzyrea ah we can help with that :)
12:16 dgl_library by using a virtual appliance, we can run any OS on the machine, and have Debian just for Koha
12:16 really, help with debian? :)
12:17 wizzyrea there's always virtualbox.
12:17 i mean, not running a pre-configured koha in a virtualbox
12:17 dgl_library aha! I hadn't thought of setting up everything from scratch *within virtualbox*
12:17 right!
12:17 aren't you clever……
12:17 wizzyrea >.>
12:17 <.<
12:17 ^.^
12:18 dgl_library ok, so I've got virtualbox here and the 64-bit debian squeeze gnome install DVD
12:18 but I have to download it again because there was a file error
12:18 anyway, I would install debian+gnome in virtualbox, and then…
12:19 wizzyrea packages?
12:19 wahanui package info is at http://wiki.koha-community.org[…]on_Debian_Squeeze
12:19 dgl_library can you please point me to the most reliable and current instructions on how to install koha from packages

12:22 wizzyrea: in the Himalayas
12:22 slef deiv: everyone but trust no-one :)
12:23 deiv great
12:23 wizzyrea isn't it some strange hour there?
12:23 dgl_library by the way, is it ok to install the Gnome environment, or should I just stick to the Debian command-line (which I'd prefer not to do… very limiting to have to do every single thing via the command line)
12:23 5:53pm
12:23 wizzyrea hm, not so strange. :)
12:23 dgl_library it's the crack of early in flyover country, usa, though, isn't it?
12:23 wizzyrea sure it's ok to install gnome.
12:23 but most instructions will have you doing most everything on the command line
12:24 jcamins_away dgl_library: you can install GNOME, you'll just have to open up a terminal to do things on the command line.
12:24 wizzyrea well, yes. 6:30
12:24 ish.
12:24 slef jcamins_away: wizzyrea: maybe they know the gnome user admin tools and so on
12:24 dgl_library jcamins: that's ok, as long as I still have a mouse and desktop, which will make it easier to copy and paste stuff if I run into problems (like error logs)
12:25 jcamins_away Fair enough.
12:25 deiv i imported yesterday, in 3.6.4 version, a marc21 example bibliography 650mb big. i downloaded it from the koha-community site
12:25 wizzyrea slef: true
12:25 what did you download exactly (meaning, from what URL?)
12:26 jcamins_away The UMich dataset.
12:26 * wizzyrea has not looked at it, where did we procure it from?
12:26 dgl_library I'm going to download the debian+gnome install, which will take all night (1.1gb) to download, but if I did want to just try dropping the current db in Koha and then starting over and importing sample data etc, how would I go about it? Where's the Drop DB command?
12:26 wizzyrea please link
12:26 deiv wizzyrea: wait, i search
12:27 jcamins_away wizzyrea: it's available on UMich's site. It's much to large to use on anything less than a dedicated server.
12:27 deiv http://www.lib.umich.edu/files/umich_bib.marc.gz
12:27 i found this link on the koha-community wiki
12:28 wizzyrea I usually do mysqladmin -uroot -p drop <name of your koha db>
12:28 now, don't go doing that if you want anything in there.
12:28 you can, before that
12:28 deiv jcamins_away: yes, i got wrong :)
12:28 wizzyrea do a mysqldump -uroot -p kohadb > backup.sql
12:28 jcamins_away deiv: that is not any sort of endorsement.

12:42 dgl_library wizzyrea & jcamins: I'm not terribly command-line savvy. can you point me to a page or something that gives the commands to craft a sql report in koha that would let me download in TAB or CSV?
12:42 deiv i would like to undo the data import and reset indexing and try with a marc21 smaller sample
12:42 wizzyrea oh, you can do it through the web interface
12:42 more -> reports
12:42 create from sql
12:42 jcamins_away deiv: how did you import it?
12:43 dgl_library oh, great :)
12:43 wizzyrea dgl_library: an example of a query that would get you, say, your library definitions
12:43 select * from branches
12:44 jcamins_away deiv: if you used the batch import functionality, you can just reverse the import. If you used the command line, you'll have to delete all the records via the database.
12:45 deiv i used misc/migration_tools/bulkmarcimport.pl -file /path/to/marc.iso2709
12:45 jcamins_away deiv: in that case, you'll need to delete all the records in SQL, doing something like "DELETE FROM biblio; DELETE FROM biblioitems;"
12:45 dgl_library wizzyrea: more --> reports …… there's no "create from sql" option.
12:46 deiv jcamins: that's ok
12:46 wizzyrea not under "guided reports"
12:46 ?
12:46 well you do have those weird permission problems
12:46 perhaps your user doesn't have permissions
12:46 dgl_library http://mibpaste.com/xCPkkZ
12:47 deiv jcamins: how to delete already created indexes?
12:47 wizzyrea stinky poo
12:47 dgl_library yep.
12:47 jcamins_away deiv: when you import new records, you will reindex using rebuild_zebra.pl -b -r
12:47 wizzyrea yea, it looks like your whole problem is that your super librarian doesn't have superlibrarian permissions
12:47 dgl_library wizzyrea: I do have root access on the command line, though… if there's a way to do the export that way
12:47 wizzyrea well
12:47 dgl_library hmm. wish I could just fix the permissions!
12:48 wizzyrea you can try mysql -ukohaadmin -p nameofkohadb
12:48 password will be the same as your staff client login
12:48 deiv jcamins: a new import and rebuild will delete older and unuseful indexes?
12:49 jcamins_away Yes.
12:49 deiv jcamins: great

12:51 wizzyrea there won't be much in them likely
12:51 ok so, just for fun
12:51 select * from branches;
12:51 you see your data?
12:51 dgl_library back in the web interface, you mean?
12:51 wizzyrea no, at your mysql prompt
12:52 deiv jcamins: could i have a clean db doing a drop and a new web first setup?
12:52 wizzyrea ^^ just as it appears  up there, punctuation and all
12:52 jcamins_away deiv: you could do that, too.
12:52 wizzyrea deiv: that would clean it out, sure
12:52 dgl_library did that
12:53 it spat out the library info, address etc
12:53 wizzyrea cool
12:53 dgl_library 1 row in set
12:53 jcamins_away Ooh, you know what I get to do now? Meet the contractor at the new apartment... again!
12:53 wizzyrea perfect, you only have 1 branch
12:53 right?
12:53 dgl_library right
12:53 wizzyrea ok
12:53 so, now that we know we can get in
12:53 deiv this way seems more stable...how to re execute first installation? sorry, but i'm a real beginner
12:53 wizzyrea and we are looking at the right db
12:53 you can type exit
12:53 to exit mysql
12:53 dgl_library done
12:54 wizzyrea and do
12:54 mysql -ukohaadmin -p kohadb -e "select * from branches" > branches.sql
12:54 * jcamins_away sighs. I am not looking forward to redoing the kitchen and bathroom.
12:54 wizzyrea :/
12:55 jcamins_away Thankfully, we have a while before that's necessary.

12:59 deiv a question: how can i re execute first web installation step? i need to rebuild db structure
13:00 slef deiv: use a new database
13:01 deiv slef: i need to re create structure

13:02 and i need to re create entire structure
13:03 sturmtruppen hi to everyone
13:03 dgl_library wizzyrea: should I replace kohadb with the db name, which is koha in my case?
13:03 wizzyrea yep

13:14 deiv sturmtruppen: me not

13:16 wizzyrea deiv: think of it this way
13:16 what are the conditions by which the web installer fires?
13:16 koha finds a database, but it has nothing in it
13:17 koha wants to propagate it, so it launches the web installer.
13:17 deiv i don't know, could be it exist a flag file or something similar
13:17 i try
13:17 thank you!
13:17 wizzyrea sure :)
13:19 dgl_library wizzyrea: I tried mysql -ukohaadmin -p kohadb -e "select * from branches" > branches.sql and the result was: "ERROR 1044 (42000): Access denied for user 'kohaadmin' @ 'localhost' to database 'kohadb'

13:21 wizzyrea so now, dgl

13:22 substituting your table names for branches
13:22 example, select * from categories

13:23 dgl_library ok, I did it for branches. where can I find a list of table names?

14:23 schuster: no, it's a bit confusing when I change it to "Needs Signoff" immediately after it's pushed.
14:24 kf paul_p: I am a bit worried about the perltidy idea - not sure we finally decided about it. I think we said we woudl start discussion and gather pro/cons
14:25 paul_p I remember we agreed that there was no "good" option, this one being the "less wrong" one
14:27 kf paul_p: I thik there were some strong objections
14:27 and we still have to pudate the copyright statements... I fear losing the history might not be woth it
14:28 paul_p what do you mean by "update the @ statements" ?
14:28 kf we need to update them in order to get into debian properly

14:28 paul_p (kf: we don't loose the history, we just have one commit, that will be easily identified on git history)
14:29 kf yes, but git blame will not be identifying it
14:29 and I thik it's not only whitespace changes - it will change the line breaking too. I think at least we need to test it before we go through with it
14:29 paul_p we should find the discussion, because iirc, we said that was worth it.
14:29 kf really looking at the consequences
14:30 I think it was to be talked about on the mailing list - but might remember wrong
14:30 paul_p kf perltidy, fortunatly, changes more than whitespaces, but there's no consequences on the executed code
14:30 (fortunatly misplaced ;-) )
14:31 kf yeah I know it does not change the code, but line breaking I think?
14:31 paul_p yes, but there's no consequences
14:31 (that also changes {} position)

15:35 it's labeled "check out"
15:36 http://screencast.com/t/allRYIakIpdE
15:36 but otherwise, yes
15:37 oleonard Sure, links which are explicitly meant for one or the other will not be changed
15:37 wizzyrea right, i just meant in your syspref
15:37 oleonard Oh, you mean "check out" instead of "circulation"
15:37 wizzyrea Links to patron records point to (check out | details)
15:37 yes, exactly
15:37 oleonard Good call
15:38 wizzyrea in fact, everywhere it's called "check otu"

18:14 cait I love the red of jenkin's messages
18:32 rangi hmm
18:32 there is a patch that fixes some of those tests on 7284
18:32 cait yes, it also mailed me

18:34 cait bug number?
18:35 jcamins_away Bug 7284
18:35 wahanui well, Bug 7284 is the first step to making that happen.

19:45 Space_Librarian quick question. Is there any way to lock a public list so that only librarians can edit them?
19:45 * Space_Librarian waves around cookies to tempt answers
19:45 oleonard Public lists are not supposed to be editable by anyone but the creator
19:46 wizzyrea ^^
19:46 Space_Librarian oh good.
19:46 oleonard Cart and Lists buttons in IE9: http://screencast.com/t/tDWYJfx2O
19:47 Space_Librarian So if somebody other than the creator clicks delete or edit on the list, nothing happens?
19:47 oleonard border-radius in IE9? Fine. Background-gradients in IE9? No problem. border-radius AND background-gradients? Hah.
19:48 Space_Librarian: OPAC or staff client?
19:48 Space_Librarian the background gradients in the lists drop down has been a great cause for complaint by the IE9 users here.
19:49 oleonard: opac
19:50 and re: the gradient - http://screencast.com/t/9AbDw4Dio5ik - only an issue in IE
19:51 oleonard Must be a version before IE9?
19:54 wizzyrea wow why a horizontal gradient?
19:54 * wizzyrea ponders
19:55 Space_Librarian I dunno, it's whatever they've just upgraded the work search engine to. I use chrome, so it doesn't bother me. But yeah, weird.
19:56 oleonard wizzyrea: Because IE doesn't support multiple "stops" in gradients
19:57 The lists background gradient goes from color 1 to color 2 to color 3. IE only understands 2
19:58 Space_Librarian for comparison: same list in chrome. http://screencast.com/t/ILpP94u61
19:58 oleonard Space_Librarian: So in this case the question is why the custom CSS works in Chrome and not IE
20:00 Space_Librarian it also works in Firefox
20:01 But, we all know how broken IE is.
20:07 oleonard Space_Librarian: Back to your question about lists, I don't see where someone other than the creator sees a delete or edit link
20:07 wizzyrea Space_Librarian: are you the creator of all of those lists?

21:25 wahanui hmmm... winteR is almost gone! I already need the fan on
21:25 wizzyrea winter?
21:25 wahanui i guess winter is almost gone! I already need the fan on
21:25 eythian wizzyrea: autumn
21:25 druthb eythian...I have four columns, A, B, C, D, in a spreadsheet, and I want to create two 600 fields out of them--  I tried --mapping=A=marc:600_a --mapping=B=marc_600_e --mapping=C=600_a% --mapping=D=600_e, but that didn't fly.  Got the first one right, but all entries after C created a new tag, not added to the second 600.
21:25 wizzyrea eythian: you are cheeky.
21:25 :)
21:26 rather chilly for AUTUMN, then.
21:27 eythian druthb: hmm
21:27 wizzyrea: it's not too bad, warming up
21:28 druthb: I don't think it can do that reliably. I'd actually expect it to be adding all the other ones to the first 600
21:28 (all the non-C ones)
21:29 druthb crapola.  I was hopin' to avoid a custom script, as this particular CSV has 75 columns.
21:30 eythian you might be able to mess around with ordering and whether to put '%' signs in to make it work
21:30 it runs all the mappings through in the order they're defined on the command
21:31 e.g. put all the ones that go together in a sequence first, and then the one on its own with a '%'
21:31 druthb From the way I'd seen it behave, I had things in that order, and I've tried all sorts of wierd combinations of ? and % and ! to get there, but it either put everything on the first 600, or in separate tags.  that second 600 never got any of it's subs other than _a
21:32 eythian http://git.catalyst.net.nz/gw?[…]heads/nzei_import <-- this branch has (I think) the latest version, it might work better.
21:33 rangi back
21:33 eythian I wouldn't expect the '%' to affect anything other than itself...
21:34 druthb Okay;  I'll take another swing at things with the newer code shortly.
21:37 thanks for an amazing piece of code, eythian.  :)
