17:00 | mveron | hi everybody @koha |
17:08 | cait | hi mveron |
17:08 | weekends are pretty silent on #koha
17:08 | but soon nz wakes up to monday
17:09 | mveron | Hi cait. Alway online? |
17:09 | cait | I believe not always |
17:09 | some people might disagree
17:09 | mveron | :-) |
17:09 | I have a question about installation / git
17:10 | cait | yes? |
17:11 | mveron | My inst is Debian packages. Can I use git along with this installation by just pointin the enf var to kohaclone? |
17:11 | cait | oh |
17:11 | I am not sure | |
17:11 | jcamins_away | Yes. |
17:11 | cait | ah |
17:11 | jared :) | |
17:11 | mveron | Or should I make a brand new installation? |
17:11 | cait | listen to him mveron - he is awesome :) |
17:11 | jcamins_away | mveron: it depends what you want to do. |
17:11 | jcamins | The first question? |
17:11 | wahanui | the first question is, like, "What are you trying to do?" |
17:12 | mveron | Everybody here, wow! |
17:12 | cait | guessing the answer ... contributing to Koha! |
17:12 | :P | |
17:12 | mveron | Cait: yes |
17:12 | I have filed some bugs and wold like to get a step further
17:13 | jcamins | So the question is: do you need to have a "regular" installation in parallel? |
17:13 | mveron | Sorry for my bad English |
17:14 | It is just one installation whre I play around with.
17:14 | cait | mveron: you are fine :) |
17:14 | mveron: but you want to use the installation for development?
17:14 | mveron | Yes. it is not productive, we have mbalmers installation for our demos. |
17:15 | jcamins | Here's how I'd decide. Do you anticipate possibly modifying Zebra configuration? |
17:15 | mveron | No, I dont thing so |
17:15 | cait | hm |
17:15 | you already did to fix the language indexing I think?
17:15 | mveron | think :-= Should put my glases... |
17:16 | That was on mbalmers server
17:16 | Not on mine | |
17:16 | jcamins | In that case, you'll want to patch Zebra. |
17:16 | I'd do a new dev mode install.
17:17 | mveron | Can I do that n the same server? Or have I to remove the packaged version? |
17:17 | cait | mveron: it will give you a standard dev install like most of us use I think |
17:17 | mveron: so easy to help you with things too
17:17 | jcamins | You can do that on the same server. |
17:17 | You'll just disable the package install in Apache, and enable the dev mode install.
17:19 | mveron | Need a pointer where I can do this or whre to read about - I'm rather new to server things. |
17:20 | jcamins | Take a look at INSTALL.debian. |
17:22 | mveron | You mean on the wiki? http://wiki.koha-community.org[…]on_Debian_Squeeze ? |
17:22 | jcamins | No, in the Koha distribution. |
17:23 | mveron | Ok, thanks for the advice. I'll be back with more questions, I'm afraid... |
17:23 | cd .. | |
17:23 | Wrong place... Should put my glasses...
17:24 | jcamins | :) |
18:13 | Soupermanito left #koha
18:37 | mveron | jcamins: In ParserDetails.ini I just move the [XML::LibXML::SAX::Parser] at the ed and leave other entries as is , e.g. [XML::SAX::Expat]? |
18:41 | jcamins | That's correct. |
18:41 | mveron | Thanks. |
19:22 | jcamins: Makefile.PL asks about database-dependent test suite. Do I need that?
19:23 | jcamins | mveron: no. |
19:23 | mveron | Thanks |

21:02 | Space_Librarian | evening cait :) |
21:19 | 2 quick questions oh lovely people - 1) Is it possible to send out holds confirmation emails (I've RTFM'd and got nowhere), and 2) is there (since we catalogue articles individually), a setting to switch on that displays the journal title with the article title in the result lists of the opac?
21:19 | * Space_Librarian | has the magnifying glass out |
21:19 | rangi | for 1/ yes |
21:19 | its in enhanced messaging
21:20 | cait | hm, that's when the hold is wiating for the patron |
21:20 | rangi | umm i cant recall where exactly .. .cait .. help? |
21:20 | ahh right | |
21:20 | cait | here :) |
21:20 | 2) no - not yet. it would require adding the 773 to the result page
21:21 | for 1) - there is a setting to send mails to the librarian when a hold is placed, but I am not sure if it works
21:22 | bag | 1) shows on the detail page? |
21:23 | cait | bag: yes, 773 shows on the detail page, lable is normall In: or it can be from $i I think |
21:23 | bag | right that is what I was thinking :D |
21:24 | Space_Librarian | cait: re:1 - it works in emailing the librarian, not the patron, but we're a distance library, and our patrons get jumpy because apparently a pop-up is not enough. I've set it so that they get an email when we issue the book, and return the book, but I'm not sure that's enough for them... |
21:24 | and bag - 1 shows on the detail page, but not the short title.
21:24 | rangi | yeah would need an extension to enhanced messaging, so patrons can opt in to those mails |
21:24 | cait | for holds there is only the mail when the hold is checked in and placed on the shelf waiting |
21:27 | Space_Librarian | gtk, thanks cait :) |
21:27 | cait | you are welcome :) |
21:28 | did the serial work?
21:29 | Space_Librarian | yes, it did. You are awesome. |
21:29 | I went to get tea and you were gone when I came back to thank you.
21:30 | cait | no, I am not - but we have a library starting to use serials :) |
21:32 | * Space_Librarian | passes cait nougat, since chocolate is still out of the question. |
