03:13 wizzyrea I just had kind of a crazy idea for bugzilla
03:13 "like" or "me too" for comments or bugs.
03:14 a "like" like function
03:14 I'll just leave that here.
03:21 jcamins_away wizzyrea: we already discussed that.
03:21 I mean, you and I did.
03:22 I think we concluded it would be very useful.

15:39 sphinx dear all, I have downloaded latest release of koha
15:40 how come do I have 4.08.23? Does it have to do with liblime packaging?
15:45 jcamins sphinx: yes, the latest version is 3.6.3.
15:45 sphinx: the Koha website is http://koha-community.org/
15:45 wahanui i already had it that way, jcamins.
15:46 jcamins sphinx: you'll probably want to download Koha (as opposed to the LibLime package), since LibLime doesn't provide support.

17:43 well, then i learned something new today too

17:44 * cait is still trying to make the connection
17:45 jcamins cait: it's used by some libraries.
17:46 cait ok?
17:46 I expected you to ask about the authority data matching
17:46 but VRA Core?
17:47 jcamins cait: heh. Nothing to do with authority matching. It's one of the metadata standards supported by CollectiveAccess.
17:48 cait I mean that is was kind of unexpected :)
17:48 jcamins Ah.
17:48 Yes, I suppose it was.

18:11 * jcamins had to look it up, too. ;)
18:11 YoungPublicLibrarian lol thanks
18:11 doesn't sound bad...
18:12 jcamins And it's homemade by magnuse.
18:12 YoungPublicLibrarian lol
18:13 I have a question about Koha. Anyone have time?
18:15 cait sure
18:15 just ask, never ask to ask :)
18:16 normally if someone is around and knows, you will get an anser
18:16 and if not, try again later or on the list
18:17 YoungPublicLibrarian lol, okay. Nevermind, just figured out the problem...
18:18 cait YoungPublicLibrarian++ :)
18:21 YoungPublicLibrarian I was messing with the fines section. I thought that I started with 28.00 of fines and wanted to pay just part of it. So I input 4 dollars and then hit submit. When I looked back up it said I owed 10.00 for one book and 14.00 for another for a total of 24.00, so naturally I was thinking "Why didn't it take off the partial value. I had 24.00 dollars of fines
18:21 and still have 24.00 dollars of fines. Then I realized I'm bad at math...
18:22 cait heh
18:22 happens to me all the time:)
18:24 YoungPublicLibrarian :D
18:27 is there any way to write off just part of a fine? Or to delete a fine as an error instead of forgiving it?
18:30 cait yes for part of a fine
18:30 no for another thing beside forgive
18:30 you could add a note maybe
18:30 * cait goes tocheck the interface
18:31 cait hm
18:31 if do a ' pay selected ' you can enter only part of the amount
18:32 so select one and click 'pay selected' and enter the amount you want to pay for that fine
18:32 it seems not possible to add a note when forgiving, so not sure what to do about errors
18:39 YoungPublicLibrarian okay. So heres a hypothetical situation: We had a fine to a patron's card for a lost book. The fine includes the price of the book and a 5.00 dollar processing fee.
18:39 cait hm
18:40 I think there is a workflow for lost items
18:40 but I have not worked with that yet - so you might want to ask someone else
18:40 I think it's a bywater development
18:41 YoungPublicLibrarian When the patron comes into pay for the fine they bring a brand new copy of the book to replace the one they lost. So we want to take off the item price but still have them pay for the processing fee. Is there a way to pay part of the fine and do something else with the rest?
18:41 cait yeah
18:41 you can partial pay it
18:41 and writeoff the rest
18:43 YoungPublicLibrarian ah okay. That makes sense. I was thinking about it and trying to write it off first, but that wouldn't let me select an amount, just wanted to write off the entire fine. But if I pay it first then write off the remaining fine it works just fine :/
18:44 jcamins cait: bug 3498
18:44 wahanui bug 3498 is a fairly old implementation that colin updated. It just popped up because I added 'needs signoff'
18:44 huginn` 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org[…]w_bug.cgi?id=3498 enhancement, PATCH-Sent (DO NOT USE), ---, colin.campbell, Pushed to Master , Allow partial fine payments
18:45 YoungPublicLibrarian um...forgive my momentary lack of intelligence, but what's all that mean?
18:46 jcamins YoungPublicLibrarian: cait was asking about a bug relating to reversing partial payments.
18:46 The last comment on that bug says there's a problem with reversing partial payments.
18:48 YoungPublicLibrarian ah, that brings up another question. Does the account summary continually keep track of all fine histories? Or does it condense in some way after a while. Because potentially you could have a never ending list of fines for some patrons and that could be a bit frustrating to work with...
18:48 jcamins It does not condense, so far as I know.
18:49 But I generally don't do much with circ, so I could be wrong. wizzyrea?
18:51 YoungPublicLibrarian wow, if it doesn't it could be a long list if you have a patron that is late and has fines every month for five years...
18:52 jcamins I think it may be paginated- only twenty fines to a page.
18:52 Again, I could be wrong.
18:52 Most of the libraries I work with don't circulate.
18:54 YoungPublicLibrarian ah i see...having pages would be a good idea! Thanks for the help everyone!
