00:08 * dcook doubts that Zebra is going anywhere soon...
00:08 dcook And while we're moving away from version numbering... I think changing the indexing would be a good candidate for that
00:08 Or changing how we handle metadata...
00:08 * dcook goes back to researching other things

03:18 dcook Travelling around the world for work is pretty awesome
03:19 * dcook gives a thumbs up
03:19 eythian dcook: pfft, what would you know? ;)
03:19 dcook hehe
03:19 ibeardslee eythian: no, didn't have to be done
03:19 mtompset dcook: Unless you country of citizenship wants to disown you after 5 years. ;)
03:20 ^you^your^
03:20 eythian what country does that?
03:21 mtompset Well, Canada doesn't disown you, but you lose the right to vote.
03:22 Not to mention residency requirements take at least 3 months to kick in when you return, if you were unfortunate to lose your residency because you stayed out of country too long.
03:23 eythian ah. It's unclear in NZ on our site. I couldn't enrol to vote if away for three years, but I'm already enrolled, so I don't know what that means.
03:23 mtompset Depends on if they refresh the voters lists each election, I suppose.
03:24 dcook The elections thing is vague anyway
03:24 I haven't been gone for 5 years yet, but I still was ineligible
03:24 eythian they don't, once enrolled, always enrolled I think
03:24 mtompset Unless the politicians want to mess you up. :)
03:24 dcook "confirm that they intend to return to Canada to reside by providing the date on which they intend to resume residence in Canada" http://www.elections.ca/conten[…]ment=index&lang=e
03:24 I don't have any intent to return at this time
03:25 The five year rule seems to apply more to Canadians who are temporarily non-residents
03:25 I'm an emigrant :p
03:26 mtompset Silly you.
03:26 :)
03:26 dcook I love Canada, but Australia is pretty good.
03:26 eythian ah, I can't vote if I haven't been to NZ in the past three years
03:26 dcook I'm sure everyone I know in Canada will be cursing my name in about... 4-8 weeks if they're not already
03:26 37 degrees yesterday ;)
03:26 eythian but even a quick visit counts
03:26 dcook eythian: Interesting
03:26 wahanui i heard Interesting was sometimes good and sometimes bad
03:26 mtompset How about I curse it now for you. ;)

03:30 dcook Canada Elecctions Act (S.C. 2000, c. 9) s. 222 (1) c http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca[…]e-65.html#docCont
03:30 Christ, I can't remember how to do legal citations properly anymore...
03:31 Law is a funny thing in how vague it can be sometimes
03:31 "Intentions" make their way into all sorts of laws
03:31 wizzyrea tfw you have to re-indent everything just to understand wtf is going on.
03:31 dcook I suppose it does with manslaughter vs murder too of course..
03:31 wizzyrea: Hmm?
03:31 wizzyrea I was just looking at a very weirdly nested template.
03:32 dcook Paragraph 222(1)(c). There we go.
03:32 Ahhh
03:32 * dcook hates re-indenting
03:32 dcook Also when someone mixes tabs and spaces in Python source
03:32 That's fun
03:32 wizzyrea oh jeez. yeah nah.
03:32 dcook Well, not so bad if you're able to switch the tabs to spaces..
03:32 "yeah nah" love it
03:33 wizzyrea well I also had to re-do most of the divs on the page because it wasn't done properly originally :/
03:33 so that caused a bunch of re-indenting as well
03:33 not just doing it for funsies.
03:33 definitely not funsies.
03:34 dcook Hurray for improving it for others :)
03:34 mtj hey eythian, giz a ping if you end up in town after work, tmrw

03:42 mtompset What is the furthest back we have released in the last 6 months?
03:42 I'd be tempted to create an archived documentation page.
03:43 wizzyrea 3.16
03:43 hm, I guess we had one 3.14
03:44 mtompset I'd keep back to 3.14 on the documentation page, but not lose those old files and create an archived documentation page which is unlinked, but provideable on request.

14:29 cait khall: do you now if we have a script that works if you want to change your dateformat setting? bit worried becuase of the big bold warning :( Note: Do not change this preference on a production server with  overdue items that are accruing fines. Doing so will result in duplicate  fines!
14:29 ashimema: are you looking at the database update one?
14:30 khall cait: not that I'm aware of. It gets even more complicated when you add the timeformat in!
14:30 cait hm could the sscript we were about to remove be a start?
14:30 khall cait: this is one major reason I did the accounts rewrite. The way it works right now it is "fragile" to say the least.
14:30 cait i'd really like to move our databases to the new format :)
14:31 yeah i totally understand that
14:31 i hope we can work towards it next release
14:31 khall cait: I don't think so, it doesn't even take the time into account!
14:31 ashimema yikes
14:31 the db one yeah.. sorta looking at it..
14:32 khall what we need is a script where you specify a from date and time format, and a to date and time format
14:32 cait hm the time didn't change
14:32 timeformatis the same
14:32 ashimema whilst juggling some non-blocking code I'm writing.
14:32 cait ah
14:32 hm i have no overdues in my database...
14:33 khall: do you think it would be enough to just change the strings? in our case we'd replace / with .
14:33 cma joined #koha
14:33 khall cait: I'm not sure what you mean
14:33 cait ah, i want to switch production installations from dd/mm/yyyy to dd.mm.yyyy :)
14:34 khall ah, I see. A regex via mysql should fix that up
14:34 If you change *all* /'s to .'s you'll end up with duplicate fines
14:35 you need to change just the due date and only the due date
14:35 cait ok
14:35 so only for overdue lines
14:35 mesy
14:35 messy
14:36 khall yep, that's why the rewrite goes by issue_id and not the description
14:36 some day I'll get that rewritten
14:37 cait yeah, it should have never done that
14:37 * ashimema also want's to do an account re-write

15:15 hm what about non-packages instances? is that file used then too?
15:19 mveron cait: There is a note about the date switching problem near the syspref dateformat. Thanks for the hint.
15:19 cait i wonder if we could have a nice script doing it... until accounts are rewritten
15:20 maybe this could fix it: http://git.koha-community.org/[…]c46b68d28299aefd9

16:52 misilot should plack just work with the kohadevbox? not sure if I am missing something on setting it up. I can't get to it on 5000 or 5001 and cd /vagrant; prove; fails with the Plack tests
16:54 xarragon Is there any easy way to view which indexes are available in the zebra server?
16:55 cait ... easy...
16:55 definitionproblem :)
16:56 you could probably write something to create a list
16:56 i usuallly look in the zebra files directly
16:56 xarragon heh, yeah.. well I know enough Z39.50 and Yaz to perform queries and inspect the result now
16:56 cait starting with the xml file
16:56 xarragon I have looked around a bit in the XML stack, yes. I am after MARK field 001 specifically, which seems to be indexed.
16:57 There was also a guide on the wiki how to add custom indexes.
16:57 We might want 003 as well, for example.
16:58 bag misilot: I think maybe you need to use koha-shell
16:58 xarragon So I looked over the Bib-1 definitions, and it seems Bib-1:1028 is called "Stock-number".
16:58 bag and then your tests will pass
16:58 I think without it you’re not pulling the KOHA_CONF
16:58 xarragon In Swedish libraries, we store a national ID in that field. That is what I need to look up.
16:58 misilot bag: well it is complaining about it not running (which I cannot access it via localhost:5001 from the host computer) ... will try koha-shell
16:58 xarragon Buuut, I can't seem to query it properly.
16:59 bag right also I think you have to use package commands to start up plack
16:59 misilot oh?
16:59 bag misilot: do you get anything if you type —  ps aux | grep starman
16:59 drojf xarragon: 001 is Control-number
16:59 xarragon So I am not sure if Bib-1 actually maps BIB-1:1028 to MARC:001
16:59 misilot bag: no
16:59 bag or try ps aux | grep plack
16:59 drojf xarragon: does that help? http://git.koha-community.org/[…]0b7b34f01;hb=HEAD
16:59 misilot bag: no
17:00 bag ok misilot I don’t think it’s running then
17:00 xarragon drojf: Yes.. Is that field reserved for something else? Or what does that entail?
17:01 drojf: Ah, that file. i have looked at it here locally, thanks. i might go through it again now that I am more familiar with Z39.50
17:01 drojf xarragon: what do you mean by reserved? it depends on the use, locally or in your union… usually a record would be identified by 003+001, eg in a union catalogue. koha does not really do that though
17:01 xarragon drojf: Ok, that is exactly what we do with it.
17:01 drojf that#s what it's for, AFAIK :)
17:02 xarragon drojf: I just need to know how to search that field then.
17:02 drojf maybe that link is better http://git.koha-community.org/[…]6765bf1b9;hb=HEAD
17:02 you should be able to see the field numbers and index names
17:03 reiveune bye
17:03 reiveune left #koha
17:03 xarragon drojf: Right, I will look
17:03 drojf you can also ask zebra what indexes are known. that does not really tell you what is in there though http://wiki.koha-community.org[…]ng_Zebra_indexing
17:05 xarragon drojf: Ah, there's what I am looking for.
17:05 bag also misilot are you using anisble?
17:07 cait 1028 is theattribute - should be something different
17:07 misilot bag: possibly? All I did was   $ git clone https://github.com/digibib/kohadevbox.git;   $ cd kohadevbox;  $ cp config.cfg-sample config.cfg (set values);   $ vagrant plugin install vagrant-cachier; vagrant up (and changed from chef to their new name)
17:07 cait xarragon: 001 is Control-number
17:07 xarragon drojf: I was playing around with the metadata (zebra::*) in the SRU yesterday.
17:08 bag misilot: same spot - different branch https://github.com/digibib/koh[…]vbox/tree/ansible
17:08 xarragon drojf: But I kept getting error with the URL, so i switched to the yaz client to be able to have a bit more control
17:08 cait stocknumber is a differentfield in marc i think
17:09 xarragon drojf: But then figuring out the syntax for rhe search command, with all the parameter mappings, schemas etc. was a bit overwhelming at first. :-)
17:09 bag misilot: it’s nice you can vagrant up wheezy jessie trusty  (all in one command)  you get 3 different distros with master installed
17:09 misilot: you’ll have to install ansible too
17:09 drojf xarragon: in the opac, a search for Control-number:<yournumber> should work
17:09 cait hm  211 att 9001    Control-number
17:10 strange
17:10 i didn't expect that to be alocal use one
17:10 xarragon drojf: if that is all that is needed it is awesome
17:11 cait xarragon: didyou take a look at the search chapter in the koha manual?
17:11 drojf xarragon: it's used to link records too. if you use 773/774 and use control numbers to link, the generated links in the opac use it
17:12 xarragon cait: No, I think I have to hang my head in shame here.. Though we started looking at the indexing process since we assumed to have to add a new index anyway
17:12 drojf: But yes, I get the expected record using yoru search methology.
17:12 So bug thanks
17:13 big*
17:13 drojf++
17:13 I was afraid we would have to add new perl stuff to be able to pass paramters for the searching of specific MARC fields.
17:13 cait xarragon: looking the linkup for you
17:14 xarragon cait: It is ok, I have the PDF
17:14 cait: You don't need to spoon-feed me.
17:14 cait http://manual.koha-community.o[…]en/searchfaq.html
17:14 xarragon cait: Thanks!
17:14 cait it's just easy to miss it - but really helpful
17:14 not intending to spoon feed you :)
17:14 misilot bag: already use ansible for some of my infrastructure so I have that :)
17:15 drojf time to go home
17:15 later #koha
17:15 cait and actually.. that was the wrong link
17:16 ...this was the one http://manual.koha-community.o[…]en/searching.html
17:16 bag sweet
17:18 xarragon And to think I was sitting reading through the YAZ-client source code to figure out what I needed to do
17:23 I need to use koha a bit more I think.. When all you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail; ie: "Let's add some code!"
17:27 cait heh
17:27 xarragon But it is pretty obvious, the MARC-to-search-prefix-mapping is defined in the XML file.
17:28 I guess everything is easy in hindsight.
17:29 nuentoter Does anyone here have any experience with exporting from winnebago/spectrum and converting into usable records?
17:32 cait not me, sorry
17:36 nuentoter well someone may be able to help anyway, first of all when initially exporting my catalog, what format should that file be in? there is no default file extension in winnebago

19:09 misilot bag: i defined git_fullname in vars/user.yml but ansible is complaining it is undefined. Do i need to define it somewhere else?
19:09 bag typo
19:09 git_full_name
19:10 and you need spaces around them :D
19:10 we submitted a patch that was bad :(
19:10 in roles/kohadevbox/templates/gitconfig.j2
19:11 you need to change {{git_fullname}}  to {{ git_full_name }}
19:11 misilot ok
19:11 bag also anywhere that you see {{git….}}  you need a space on each side :)
19:11 sorry
19:11 misilot no problem

20:10 rickx Hello everybody
20:12 I'm updating the version of Koha, but it takes a long time and get an error Gateway Time-out
20:12 anyone know how I can increase the runtime?
20:13 or I can run the upgrade process through command line??
20:15 wizzyrea you can run koha-upgrade-schema <instancename> from the command line
20:15 it will likely pop you many also hi
20:16 wow I should finish one thought before I start another
20:16 it will likely pop you many errors since you've already started it, but those will be ok, probably.
20:18 bag hi wizzyrea
20:18 rickx is there any way to modify the parameters of apache to wait until the process ends?
20:19 wizzyrea probably, but if your db is that out of date, you'd probably rather run the update from the command line.
20:19 cait hm could it have finished anyway?
