00:02 jcamins wizzyrea: I am planning a menu for my dessert brunch, and I can't decide what cookies I should serve.
00:03 Any suggestions?
00:03 wahanui Any suggestions are welcome.
00:03 jcamins So far I'm thinking triple-chocolate raspberry and black lava sea salt-oatmeal chocolate chip.
00:04 eythian thanks jcamins
00:04 now I need lunch
00:05 jcamins eythian: would it help if I told you other things I planned on serving?
00:05 eythian no.
00:05 no it wouldn't.
00:05 jcamins Things like saffron-orange-vanilla cupcakes, tortiously tempting flourless chocolate torte, apple pie...
00:05 oh.
00:05 Oops.
00:05 ibeardslee heh
00:05 eythian you are bad and should feel bad.
00:06 jcamins I would, but I get to look forward to things like chocolate mousse, kyauk kyaw, goat cheese-date chocolate truffles, chocolate-lavender fudge, and saltine toffee bark.
00:07 eythian hmph
00:08 wizzyrea I think you've got that handled there, jcamins.
00:08 jcamins wizzyrea: that's only two.
00:08 wizzyrea: fortunately, I just throught of peanut butter cookies.
00:08 *thought
00:09 wizzyrea if you just want something that takes a lot of work, you could go for unicorn poop.
00:09 it doesn't even matter how they taste, they're rainbow.
00:09 jcamins lol
00:09 No, I prefer easy things that are delicious.
00:10 Maybe I need a second type of cake, too.
00:11 * jcamins is planning his 5th anniversary dessert brunch.
00:15 eythian I thought you were older than 5
00:16 jcamins Heh. Anniversary = birthday in NZ?
00:16 eythian No
00:16 but without clarification, it could be anything.
00:17 so it's naturally best to make it one of the more ridiculous options.
00:17 jcamins Without any clarification in the US it means "wedding anniversary," I think.
00:18 eythian it could totally be work anniversary here, though that's less likely to be a cake-requiring event.
00:21 * jcamins substitutes volcanic chocolate chip cookies for the black lava sea salt-oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. Yum!
00:23 also adds rosemary shortbread.
00:27 * Francesca is stressed
00:28 * jcamins recommends baking.
00:29 Francesca i'm at uni
00:30 waiting for summer of tech interview offers is bad for my stress levels
00:31 hahahaha I don't have a dorm room
00:36 jcamins Is 16 desserts enough for a dessert brunch?
00:41 Francesca probably
00:41 thats a lot of desserts
00:42 jcamins True.
00:43 4x cookies, 1x cakes, 2x pies/tartes/tortes, 2x chilled confections, 3x candies, 2x puddings, 2x fruit
00:44 ibeardslee how many is that for, is there enough for everyone/most to have a bit of each?
00:44 jcamins Not that many people. I'll make half batches of everything, so that everyone have just a little bit of each.
00:45 I don't actually know how many people, yet.
00:46 Francesca yum extra dessert
00:47 sounds like fun

02:29 huginn` wizzyrea: The operation succeeded.
02:29 wizzyrea (or if anyone else has advice there it's welcome.)
02:38 eythian if there's a schema change, I would expect so
02:39 wizzyrea hrm, these are things I wish someone had told me sooner. No matter, I'll fix it up now.
02:45 thanks eythian
02:45 eythian add it to the RM wiki page, and if there's no wiki page, make one with that on it :)
02:46 wizzyrea ^.^
02:46 "Currently the RM will run the script. If you want to include those changes with your patches, do it in a separate patch. This will allow the changes to be redone easily by the RM if necessary."
02:47 and that's really that.
02:47 lol.
02:49 eythian that's kinda coming from the other direction :)
02:49 wizzyrea yeah, but it doesn't say what the RM is supposed to do anywhere.
02:49 that I spotted.
02:51 well I've added all that I know about it which really fits into a thimble.

06:05 dcook Looking at porting our local customizations over to a newer version of Koha, and it's so heartening to see how many patches I've already upstreamed or which other people have already fixed upstream
06:05 Alas, I think there's still well over 100 local customizations to do...
06:05 * dcook wants to upstream all the things

11:23 DooRooK Hello, I'm trying to configure and set my inventory for the first time using Koha. Everything seems to work and I can add documents one by one.  What I would like to do is to find an automated process to record a notice from the Z39.50 server and then register it in the catalogue from a .txt or .xls file which contain all the ISBN code of my ressources
11:24 Is there any way to do this kind of stuff with the GUI of Koha ?
11:24 Or do I have to edit SQL satabase directly by scripting

13:51 tcohen kivilahtio: my question to jajm is just about the bug workflow
13:51 jajm tcohen, i wrote a comment about this followup and i think we should move it to another bug but i wanted for someone else to take a look at it
13:51 tcohen kivilahtio: not the feature itself

13:54 jajm tcohen, you can be the "someone else" ;) what do you think about this patch ?
13:59 tcohen jajm: fair enough
13:59 Joubu, cait can I test things?
13:59 :-D
13:59 Joubu why not?
14:00 tcohen you complain I should push things instead
14:00 cait i think you can in this case
14:00 hard enough to find testers
14:00 tcohen ok
14:00 :-D
14:00 cait jajm: are there 'dummy' instructions for testing somewhere?
14:00 talking about me here :) but maybe Joubu will also have time to take a look (which i secretly hope)
14:02 jajm cait, by 'somewhere', you mean, like in a sandbox ?
14:03 schnydszch I'm trying to import a database backup from 3.12.x to 3.20.3, I'm getting this error during import: ERROR 1452 (23000) at line 148310: Cannot add or update a child row: a foreign key constraint fails (`koha_library`.`aqbasket`, CONSTRAINT `aqbasket_ibfk_1` FOREIGN KEY (`booksellerid`) REFERENCES `aqbooksellers` (`id`) ON UPDATE CASCADE)
14:03 cait somewhere can also be text - just something dtailed on how to set this up for somene who has not much of an idea...
14:03 schnydszch I usually delete all tables and import the database, but I inherit problems if I do this, some columns are missed
14:05 how do I go through the errors above?
14:09 clrh hello
14:09 thanks Joubu for "reactivness" Oo

14:43 drojf so when the MARC documentation is down, does that mean MARC is dead?
14:44 tcohen: yes. put it in the wiki maybe?
14:44 tcohen I need to re-do some patches now, and then test the REST API, sorry :-D

16:02 dojobo hi guys, i'm about to start a new job partly as a systems librarian in charge of a koha instance
16:02 i haven't used koha before though
16:02 any tips for getting up to speed (besides just reading the docs on the website)?
16:20 jcamins dojobo: I recommend bribing the developers with cookies and/or fudge.
16:22 cait dojobo: you already did a good first step - joining #koha :)
16:23 things you shoudl find out for questiosn later is how your koha was installed and which version you run... for reading material... hard to tell. is there something specific you want to learn about?
16:39 dojobo well first, just how to do typical tasks
16:40 like importing marc records, editing records, running reports
16:40 i assume those are pretty straightforward but i want to be prepared on day one when my boss sits me down in front of it
16:41 Dyrcona joined #koha
16:41 dojobo then it would be good to learn about known issues and such
16:41 cait dojobo: i think reading through the manual would be helpful then
16:41 dojobo or quirks
16:41 cait also aving a test installation is good
16:41 so you can try out things
16:41 there are some publicly available demos you could take a look at
16:41 dojobo is a test installation doable on a macbook?
16:42 cait yes, in a virtual environment
16:42 dojobo cool
16:42 cait koha will work best in debian or ubuntu currently - or you can use a kohadevbox
16:42 kohadevbox
16:42 wahanui well, kohadevbox is at https://github.com/digibib/kohadevbox
16:42 dojobo i'll probably give that a shot
16:42 cait manual?
16:42 wahanui manual is probably at http://www.koha-community.org/documentation
16:42 cait packages?
16:42 wahanui packages is at http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Debian
16:43 dojobo thanks :)

16:43 cait where are my cookies... ;)
16:43 dojobo um... they're in the mail
16:44 cait heh
16:45 what kind of/what library are you working at?
16:45 dojobo a science library with a small collection
16:46 cait cool
16:46 where is it?
16:46 wahanui it is important as it gives a period in which their literary contribution/s was/were made
16:46 dojobo specifically, the library at the european southern observatory's HQ
16:46 so mainly astronomy
16:46 it's near munich
16:46 cait oh :)
16:46 I work at BSZ in Konstanz :)
16:47 dojobo cool :)
16:47 oh that's not terribly far
16:47 cait no not really
16:47 compared to most people you can talk here with
16:48 Koha covers all timezones
16:48 dojobo gotta run but will bbl. we'll definitely chat some more, thanks for the tips :)

17:41 jcamins tcohen: I have no objection. Carriage returns and newlines I object to, but I don't mind double quotes.
17:41 tcohen hehe
17:41 :-P
17:41 jcamins Oh, I also object to non-standard whitespace.
17:42 tcohen a librarian has just saved a record in Koha, with double-quotes in it
17:43 and it f*ng broke http://snag.gy/2uSGe.jpg
17:43 drojf taht should probably be escaped in marcxml :P
17:44 that
17:44 tcohen drojf: who's fault is?
17:44 drojf the cataloguing module's?
17:45 but in the end… you are the release manager, so it's yours :P
17:45 tcohen o-o
17:45 .-/
17:45 :-P
17:45 i'd say is the release maintainer's fault =D =D
17:48 magnuse i blame MARC!

21:50 I love(hate) how obsessed people are with the support list.
22:04 jcamins Speaking of desserts, I just read a book on truffles, turtles, and barks. It was called "truffles, turtles, and barks." Now I want to make candy.
22:11 dojobo anyone used the devbox lately? vagrant said it couldn't find chef/debian-7.8
22:11 it wants to try bento/debian-7.8 instead
22:11 wizzyrea not lately no.
22:11 did you apt-get install vagrant?
22:11 because you shouldn't
22:11 dojobo nah, homebrew, and i checked that it was the latest version
22:12 wizzyrea which version is that?
22:12 1.74?
22:12 dojobo ah looks like the vagrant box was just renamed at some point
22:12 yeah
22:13 https://atlas.hashicorp.com/chef/boxes/debian-7.8 describes a box called bento/debian-7.8
22:13 so i'll just change the vagrantfile to that

23:02 jcamins wizzyrea: have you made watermelon (or similar) "caviar"?
23:02 wizzyrea I have not, what does that entail?
23:02 I have made watermelon/feta salad though.
23:02 jcamins !!
23:02 http://toastable.com/2010/wate[…]cular-gastronomy/
23:02 I haven't either, but it seemed like something you would've done.
23:03 wizzyrea hehe
23:03 it does look fun
23:03 I have eaten similar things, but I've never made them
23:04 jcamins I've never even eaten it.
23:04 wizzyrea at the yogurt shop they often have juicy ball things
23:04 bigger than caviar, technically.
23:05 this must be what they are.
23:05 jcamins Yeah, probably.
23:05 wizzyrea frogurt, even.
23:05 jcamins I want to serve them at my dessert brunch.
23:05 wizzyrea frogurt, even.
23:05 lol dammit.
23:09 ibeardslee hmm I wonder if you could use other things .. eg tomato or carrot juice
23:10 jcamins Yup.
23:10 For acidic things you need to use different chemicals, though.
23:12 JoshB joined #koha
23:21 wizzyrea carrot juice could probably be done this way
23:21 jcamins Yeah, probably.
23:21 It's just tomato that I'd expect to have a problem.
23:21 Based on absolutely no first-hand experience.
23:22 wizzyrea :)
23:30 ibeardslee I'm imagining a single lettuce leaf containing different shades and colours of 'caviar' from a bunch of different juices and a dollop of unsweetened yoghurt.
23:31 jcamins ibeardslee: that sounds like the way it's supposed to be served.
23:32 If I serve it, I'll just have a little tiny little grape juice glass with a couple spheres, because I can't imagine wanting more than one or two.

23:39 wizzyrea that depends, is there icecream?

I managed to batch import some documents and to get the notice in Koha though MarcEdit (this tutorial I found summarize well how to do it : http://manual.koha-community.o[…]anagestaged.html). Problem is when I go to the OPAC, I cannot see any document unless if thoses one are set to be part of a "list"
23:58 I reloaded the zebra indexing and stuff, but nothing happened
23:58 Am I missing something important here ?
