08:31 slef magnuse, rangi: have you secured your Koha servers against the recently-published apache DoS and did you have any problems doing so? (Yes, we're secured now, but something struck me as a bit odd and I just spent a while without getting to the bottom of it. I'm wondering about koha-httpd.conf)
08:32 magnuse hm, answering that in a publicly logged channel might not be a good idea...
08:32 slef feel free to msg if you prefer
08:32 magnuse :-)
08:35 rangi the sysadmins take care of that stuff
08:38 also we run the packages, so our koha-httpd.conf is a bit different

08:51 slef hmm :-/
08:57 rangi: did your sysadmins have any problems with it and why is the package koha-httpd.conf different in any way that matters? (debian/templates/apache-*conf right?)
09:02 rangi because it uses a different apache2, (mpm-itk) and splits things out into different places
09:02 and no problems that i heard of
09:08 slef Do you have a test server that you wouldn't mind me running the vuln test on? I promise not to run the exploit itself
09:09 I think choice of which apache2 (mpm-itk or whatever) is possible with release koha-httpd.conf too. I'm pretty sure we've got different models on different servers.
09:13 rangi yep it might be possible with the tarball version too, you just cant run anything but itk with the packages, because it suexecs
09:14 our staging server isnt accessible to the world

15:00 Barrc Hey all - does anyone know off hand if there is a script in 3.4x that will table sort column headers in an outputted table? I can write one but no point reinventing the wheel!
15:02 oleonard Barrc: We use a JavaScript plugin to sort HTML tables in the interface if that's what you mean

15:39 datatables.net is far easier.

15:41 magnuse haha!
15:41 ;-)
15:41 slef oleonard and chris_n were both in favour

15:42 hdl on jquery lists, see http://git.biblibre.com/?p=koh[…]ds/cg55/ft/MT7516
15:42 slef: at least, i would prefer that a person investigate on datatables rather than tablesorter.
15:43 slef magnuse: I'm tempted to post only the kohacon summary table info unless anyone has questions. Do you think that's OK?
15:43 hdl Because the usage of tablesorter has proven to be quite hard to maintain.
15:43 And If someone is to begin a new dev, he should be provided the best tools.

15:44 hdl and if I may say, BibLibre once considered tablesorter a nice tool. But with experience, it is not so good.

16:05 huginn New commit(s) needsignoff: [Bug 6790] C4::Serials::getroutinglist returns unnecessary variable <http://bugs.koha-community.org[…]w_bug.cgi?id=6790>
16:05 libsysguy you basically laid out what I wanted to say
16:07 sekjal libsysguy:  cool.  you'd hit on things I've been thinking about for a while, so I figured now would be a good time to start laying them out and getting the ball rolling
16:07 libsysguy yeah I'd really like to get things moving on it too.  After the first two replies I was afraid nobody shared my sentiments
16:09 sekjal it's no small job, and I can understand folks being wary of stepping into it, but it's definitely going to be worth it
16:10 I'm envisioning a system that can handle plaintext emails, HTML emails, HTML printed notices, SMS, RSS, Twitter, Facebook, Google+, whatever
16:10 just specify the notice format
16:10 and make those formats extensible
16:13 hdl sekjal: have you solved your performance problems ?
16:14 sekjal hdl:  in what sense?
16:14 hdl you said you were working on that...
16:15 sekjal we are working on Koha performance as a kind of Macro Project.  it takes a lot of different forms, from optimizing SQL and profiling the Perl code, to checking out different MySQL/Apache/Perl configs
16:16 hdl have you had some nice results ?
16:19 oleonard Sorry, I was afk. hdl: I agree that tablesorter will probably go away, but if someone is submitting a patch for 3.6 they should use tablesorter. A full conversion to datatables isn't going to happen quickly.
16:21 hdl oleonard: I personnaly think that if we donot tell we are to use that tool and not that other one please consider using the first and not the latter in what you submit, then, we shall have issues... because when integrating new features, or new devs, we will end up having to reprocess things over and over.
16:21 rhcl libsysguy: I think we may have some suggestions, just haven't formulated them yet.
16:23 oleonard hdl: I asked a question in that thread that was not answered: Would Alex be willing to re-implement Bug 6086 using the datatables plugin to see if it fits that bug's requirements?
16:23 huginn 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org[…]w_bug.cgi?id=6086 minor, PATCH-Sent, ---, alex.arnaud, ASSIGNED , adding a dynamic filter to pending holds

16:24 And the branch http://git.biblibre.com/?p=koh[…]ds/cg55/ft/MT7516

17:41 * wizzyrea has done some work like this with envisionware
17:42 larryb Well, it looks from our SIP logs like their software isn't sending what KOHA SIP expects, or it's not getting back what it needs.
17:42 wizzyrea aha, so something like a send/expect script
17:43 does cybrarian have an example of one that works with say, sirsi?
17:43 larryb I think they have most of the commercial vendors, plus evergreen.
17:43 wizzyrea OH
17:43 have you tried using evergreen?
17:43 as the configuration
17:43 larryb That's what they're using now, but it's not working.
17:44 wizzyrea hmm
17:44 because we use the evergreen definitions with Envisionware
17:44 larryb hmm indeed. Sounds like it ought to work.
17:44 wizzyrea are those plaintext definitions, can we look at them?
17:45 (they are for envisionware)
17:45 larryb I'm going to see if I can get a demo of their software to play with.
17:45 wizzyrea question, how is it not working?
17:45 can't log in?
17:45 larryb Yeah.
17:45 wizzyrea or can log in, but other stuff isn't working
17:45 larryb can't log in.
17:45 wizzyrea ok, and just to verify
17:46 the sip user is defined both in the sipconfig *and* has a patron/staff account on the web interface, with circulate permissions
17:46 ?
17:46 larryb Yep.
17:46 wizzyrea ok cool, I always have to ask
17:46 larryb yeah, that's always the first thing I check too.
17:46 wizzyrea (another obvious one) and the passwords are the same?
17:46 larryb yep.
17:47 wizzyrea ok so it's not that, that's good :)
17:47 do you know does cybrarian have a place to define the send/expect?
17:47 like, envisionware has a file
17:47 sipscript.cfg
17:47 larryb I do not. That's why I want to get a copy of it.
17:47 wizzyrea and you put the send/expects in there
17:48 larryb Yeah, I'm hoping that's all that's needed.
17:48 wizzyrea I can send you the contents of our file for envisionware, if that would help
17:48 larryb That may. Thanks.
18:01 sekjal wizzyrea:  are you still having problems with SIP and diacritics in titles?
18:04 wizzyrea good question, I don't know
18:04 i will ask right now
18:04 hankbank joined #koha
18:05 wizzyrea hi hankbank :)
18:05 hankbank hi wizzyrea
18:05 wizzyrea I wonder if you have any thoughts on http://wiki.koha-community.org[…]Gamifying_the_ILS
18:05 :)
18:05 hankbank many
18:05 wizzyrea i'd love it if you added them to the wiki :)
18:05 hankbank ok
18:06 I will add my contribution to the collective wisdom :)
18:06 wizzyrea excellent, thanks :D
18:07 hankbank tho' you do know that I am a cantankerous sort of creature? Do you not? :)
18:07 wizzyrea I do, it's why I like you.
18:08 hankbank :) well alright then!
18:15 rhcl wizzyrea: where does envisionware keep the send/expect script?
18:16 wizzyrea arg, lol, let me look up the path
18:16 I would have this sent already except google docs is broken.
18:16 hrmph.
18:16 rhcl ah, so apparently it's on the Koha server somewhere? --not client side?
18:16 wizzyrea right
18:16 it's in the envisionware folder
18:17 rhcl ah.
18:17 ah.
18:17 wizzyrea i trust that you could find it, the name is sipscript.cfg
18:17 rhcl ok, I'll find it. no need to look it up for me.
18:17 wizzyrea i know you're clever that way :)
18:17 rhcl oh yea. I'm pretty dang "clever" :)
18:21 larryb wizzyrea: I spoke with Cybraryn. Their send/expect settings are coded into the software; it's not in a config file.
18:21 wizzyrea that SUUUCKS
18:21 tell them to make it not suck.
18:21 :)
18:21 larryb Yeah. So I'm going to send them the Koha info and they say they can get it coded in pretty quick.
18:21 wizzyrea cool, that's nice of them
18:21 rhcl I wonder about Userful. I don't see a script by the above name.
18:21 wizzyrea envisionware still doesn't properly support koha
18:21 rhcl sekjal: do you know offhand what Userful uses?
18:22 larryb Well, it's to their advantage to make their software work with as many systems as possible.
18:22 wizzyrea yea, you would think that
18:22 larryb So they seem anxious to get this fixed.
18:22 wizzyrea that's cool, wish I could say I had the same experience with envisionware.
18:22 they're like "just use evergreen" and "define your own d*** send/expect"
18:23 rhcl My impression of envisionware always was that they had good equipment that seemed to work well but which was expensive
18:23 wizzyrea they won't add it as an ILS
18:23 well the stuff we're using isn't equipment per se
18:23 just the software
18:23 no self checks or anything
18:23 envisionware is attainable for our libraries
18:23 apparently
18:24 rhcl yea, but I've seen their print controls--that and other things seemed to be integrated well. But that was an impression I got from seeing their systems several times back in the mid- late 2000s
18:25 wizzyrea yea we are not using the print controls
18:25 sekjal the tech in our self check library says that it's still a problem
18:25 the diacritcs
18:26 larryb wizzyrea: sekjal is away right now. You might want to do a 'later' at him.
18:26 wizzyrea ah I will
18:27 rhcl Does Envisionware still have that auto checker inner sorter thinger?
18:27 oleonard You and your technical mumbo jumbo.
18:27 wizzyrea I think so, heh
18:28 rhcl @later tell sekjal "Do you know if Userful has any kind of config script (send/receive/expect) on our Koha server?
18:28 huginn rhcl: Error: No closing quotation
18:28 rhcl wahhh
18:28 @later tell sekjal "Do you know if Userful has any kind of config script (send/receive/expect) on our Koha server?"
18:28 huginn rhcl: The operation succeeded.
18:29 rhcl I always thought the "auto checker inner sorter thinger" (do those things have a succinct name?) was really really cool
18:29 wizzyrea @later tell sekjal diacritics + 3m selfcheck = still broken
18:29 huginn wizzyrea: The operation succeeded.
18:29 wizzyrea no quotes necessary :P
18:30 rhcl Yea, but it helps me... ;)
18:31 wizzyrea lol, you are strange but endearing.
18:31 rhcl well
18:31 well, thank u
