07:56 paulderscheid[m] morning #koha
07:56 I've got an interesting idea. Wouldn't it be great if we had key-based auth on the API?
07:57 I thought about managing sysprefs via API but I think without key-based auth it's not safe enough.
08:02 matts hi paulderscheid[m], you can create API keys for a given user: https://koha-community.org/man[…]rface-for-patrons
08:02 marcelr yeah it is already there
08:02 we only have the cookie based stuff too
08:02 ashimema joined #koha
08:02 ashimema I assume you mean pki pauldetscheid
08:03 But I still don't see why that would be a requirement.. we don't require it for login in general, but do offer it I believe ... Can't say I've actually seen anyone using it in the wild though if I'm honest
08:04 What we do need however is to support more oauth flows
08:04 Our client credentials only flow isn't great
08:05 paulderscheid[m] Very cool
08:05 marcelr ashimema: i pqaed 29744 and simplied 31468 and made it dependent; could you have a look again?
08:05 paulderscheid[m] Good to know

08:06 ashimema This afternoon I can.. once I'm back from the school run I need to concentrate on writing a post for our new website.. lunchtime deadline
08:06 marcelr thx
08:07 paulderscheid[m] ashimema: I think we'll make use of that in the near future
08:08 Anyway, thanks for the pointers. I'm glad that it's already there ^^

08:53 lds hi
08:54 hello
08:54 do you have feedback on using mariadb 10.6 with koha?
08:56 cait hm no idea what we are using let me check
08:56 10.3.34-MariaDB - no known issues, we always use what's in Debian I believe
09:00 lds jenkins test is ok https://jenkins.koha-community[…]b/Koha_21.05_U22/
09:03 fridolin it is not yet in https://wiki.koha-community.or[…]d_recommendations
09:03 maybe it should be
09:03 tuxayo: do you know about MariaDB 10.6 ?
09:11 mtj hi lds, we have a mariadb-latest build, that seems to be passing - running 10.9.2
09:12 https://jenkins.koha-community[…]r_D11_MDB_Latest/
09:13 cait if you need a website update let me know
09:14 ashimema joined #koha
09:16 marcelr hi mtj did you see the Debian 9 bug
09:17 few days ago
09:17 mtj marcelr: yes, i updated the wiki page to remove EOL deb9
09:18 marcelr ok
09:18 that makes sense
09:18 should we announce that somewhere else too?
09:19 mtj yeah, i think so
09:20 ML perhaps?
09:20 ..and website 'news' item?
09:21 lds, i'll change the U22 jenkins builds to use mariadb-10.6
09:24 i think it is a good idea to have each OS build, running the DB version which is avaiable in it's repo
09:24 ... rather than all builds running mariadb 10.3, etc
09:27 that way we can test more db versions too
09:28 marcelr mtj: ML would be good
09:32 mtj ok, i can do that
09:33 marcelr mtj++
09:33 i closed the bug
09:35 cait mtj: coudl you help me fix https://koha-community.org/download-koha/ ?
09:35 it lists debian 9 under Current Release
09:37 the link List of all released versions of Koha also seems not correctly labelled
09:37 released versions and packaged versions are different - also the link doesn't show all packages ever made..
09:37 possibly shoudl be change dto https://download.koha-community.org/old_releases/ ?
09:38 mtj me looks
09:38 cait thanks :)
09:38 just saw "M... is currently editing" :)
09:45 marcelr ashimema++
09:47 cait mtj++
09:48 mtj cait: look ok?
10:01 ashimema erm
10:01 cait.. I can't replicate bug 31465
10:01 huginn` Bug https://bugs.koha-community.or[…]_bug.cgi?id=31465 trivial, P5 - low, ---, koha-bugs, NEW , 21.11 manual says it is 20.05 manual
10:02 ashimema hang on...
10:04 how are you getting to '/systempreferences.html'... it's 'globalpreferences.html' for me...
10:04 if I navigate around the manual I can't find a link page you link to from the bug anywhere..
10:04 I'm confused
10:06 OK.. back in january 2021 I split up the one huge sysprefs file into smaller ones.. looks like that's when 'systempreferences' became 'globalpreferences'
10:11 cait ashimema: i just copied the link i used earlier...
10:11 not navigating
10:12 let me check
10:12 the link works for me: https://koha-community.org/man[…]mpreferences.html
10:12 oh i see
10:12 maybe an old file was not deleted and that's all?
10:12 https://koha-community.org/man[…]tml#web-installer is correct version-wise
10:13 ashimema exactly
10:13 I'm confused though.. the rsync is meant to get rid of deleted files
10:13 cait i had manipulated the url given on the bug trying a different version
10:13 ashimema I'm jsut building locally so try and work out what's going on.
10:13 cait ok
10:13 but maybe deleting them once woudl also be ok
10:13 ashimema I'll ask on the bug.. I'm wondering where the URL is coming from in the first place
10:14 I reckon it couldperhaps be at the koha help end
10:14 cait hm yeah
10:14 so we'd need to change different spots
10:14 make the page go away, but also fix the link
10:14 ashimema indeed
10:14 cait the mapping is in a .pm module
10:15 i recently added a link, but forgot the exact name
10:15 ashimema so the file doesn't exist when I build recent branches.. I have no idea how you don't get a 404
10:15 rsync must be doing something funky I reckon
10:15 cait https://git.koha-community.org[…]oha/Manual.pm#L92
10:16 ashimema aha.. thans
10:16 I've never really dug into that area of Koha
10:16 fancy fixing it there and I'll QA it..
10:17 I'll work on the rsync side
10:17 cait i'll step out for a quick lunch, bbiab
10:17 ashimema okies
10:17 cait probably won't get to do that today - long todo :(
10:19 ashimema rsync -c -u -r -e.. looks like we're missing --del
10:19 I'll ask ranig about it.. there might be something I'm overlooking
10:19 @seen rangi

13:04 ashimema right...
13:04 so I'm merging to the current branch.. so far everything has made sense to do so
13:05 so that's 22.05..
13:05 what I've not done is backported.. with the backlog, I'm not sure if it's worthwhile going through or not honestly..
13:05 I think we should draw a line and try and start the next cycle better regarding docs
13:06 mtj lds, the U22 jenkins tests are now using latest mariadb 10.6 (10.6.9) - but tests are not all passing (yet)
13:07 master_u22 is green :) https://jenkins.koha-community[…]b/Koha_Master_U22
13:10 lds, probably safer to go with ubuntu 20.04 LTS, and mariadb 10.3
13:10 https://packages.ubuntu.com/focal/mariadb-server
13:25 lds mtj: ok :)
13:26 mtj: mariadb 10.6 is LTS that's why I would like to install it on my park https://endoflife.date/mariadb
13:29 mtj lds: yep, but you want to install a version of mariadb that everyone is using
13:30 ...rather than a newer version, that nobody is using
13:30 lds mtj:
13:30 mtj: I want to use a version that does not cause problems with koha :)
13:30 and I would like it to be consistent with the other software in my fleet that use 10.6
13:31 10.6  exist since 1 year and 2 months ....
13:34 tuxayo mtj: is the problem about t/db_dependent/Koha/Items.t ?
13:34 Or is this failure not related to Maria DB 10.6?
13:34 hi lds :)
13:35 mtj tuxayo: i dont know either way
13:36 lds: 21.05 with maria 10.6 is passing
13:36 https://jenkins.koha-community[…]b/Koha_21.05_U22/
13:36 tuxayo found, it's bug 31473
13:36 huginn` Bug https://bugs.koha-community.or[…]_bug.cgi?id=31473 minor, P5 - low, ---, tomascohen, Pushed to master , Test about bad OpacHiddenItems conf fragile
13:37 tuxayo Which I backported to 21.05 which is why it's passing.
13:37 However it's just a test fix.
13:38 So there seems to be no know bug with Koha it self is it?
13:39 lds: «10.6  exist since 1 year and 2 months ....» It's been a while we have passing tests on 10.6 if I recall correcly.
13:41 mtj: Unless there is a known issue with MariaDB 10.6, the situation looks like to be we are waiting for the 1st large hoster to deploy 10.6
13:43 > we have passing tests on 10.6 if I recall correcly.
13:43 Ok, now it's even MariaDB 10.8 for main/master branch
13:44 mtj i guess we've been testing maria 10.6 on master-mdb-latest build, since july-2021
13:44 .. until feb 2022
13:45 tuxayo Thanks, I wasn't able to see past the august build in the CI
13:46 > .. until feb 2022
13:46 Image probably switched to 10.7
13:46 And then the Ubuntu 22.04 build took over I guess
13:46 mtj anyhoo.. u22 builds are now testing with maria-10.6, so we start testing it properly
13:47 yeah, bump to 10.7 on 08 Feb 2022
13:47 https://endoflife.date/mariadb
13:47 tuxayo I'm digging in the last 6 month of the tickets to find mariadb bugs and found nothing related to 10.6
13:48 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MariaDB#Versioning
13:48 10.7
13:48 17 September 2021; 11 months ago
13:48 The Wikipedia article and endoflife.date diverge
13:48 ^^"
13:49 lds tuxayo: I deployed 10.6 on ephemeral instances
13:49 I did not notice any problems
13:49 I'm going to pass the demos in 10.6 I'll let you know if we find any problems
13:49 tuxayo Maybe wikipedia counts from the Release Candidate date and not the
13:49 GA date
13:49 lds: Don't expect to find any issue with basic usage of Koha
13:50 If there is a 10.6 it should be sutble
13:50 lds: oh, if that helps, a few months ago, I was running 10.6 locally when testing patches.
13:51 I was running the mariadb lastest at that time
13:52 mtj tuxayo: looks like EOL website tracks 'stable' versions, not rc/alpha/beta
13:52 https://mariadb.com/kb/en/chan[…]riadb-106-series/
13:52 https://mariadb.com/kb/en/chan[…]riadb-107-series/
13:53 tuxayo mtj: ok so wikipedia article tracks at less useful date, good to know
13:53 *a less
13:54 mtj lds, thanks for testing 10.6 - i think you will be ok :)
13:59 tuxayo mtj: I give up digging tickets ^^ So no known issues, tests show no issue in Koha for 21.11, I was using mariadb 10.6 a few month back to test patch without finding something.
13:59 They can totally put it in a few moderate size production instances without really expecting trouble? What do you think?
13:59 mtj lds: the good news with maria10.6 is that its been tested with koha-master for 7-ish months
14:02 tuxayo: i think it looks promising :)
14:06 Joubu joined #koha
14:08 tuxayo lds: So go for 10.6🚀
14:21 You were not going to deploy your new containers to everyone anyway?
14:21 lds: are you also upgrading to ubuntu 22.04?
14:22 mtj «i think it is a good idea to have each OS build, running the DB version which is avaiable in it's repo»
14:22 +1, need help to edit the CI jobs?
14:23 * ashimema hopes he hasn't broken gitlab... I now have rather a large number of manual builds running.. haha
14:26 tuxayo How large? Should we expect power outages in Europe already? :P
14:26 ⚡️📈⚡️
14:34 mtj tuxayo: no need to edit the jobs, build.pl handles the problem
14:34 tuxayo Cool, is this new?
14:35 mtj hmm, new-ish...

14:36 aaah, we are missing u18 and u20 :)
14:42 tuxayo This is neat!

17:54 caroline_catlady tuxayo, not much. I know it is controversial and we basically abandoned it as part of community work. It is part of our own patch set since its inception, but I wasn't there at that time (I've "only" been with inlibro 5 years and this calendar has been around more than that lol!) so I don't know exactly what was the problem with the calendar to prompt a complete redesign.
