17:49 Ronda hi everyone, one question we have the barcodes like this 1,2,3, but koha put zeros, so 0001, 0001...000197, is there any way to remove the zeros? will there be any consequence? thank you very much!
18:06 dcook joined #koha
18:09 tuxayo Ronda: syspref " autoBarcode" => "generated 1,2,3"
18:09 Joubu++ thanks for the gitea update
18:19 Ronda <tuxayo> yes ,I did that but I need to remove the zeros from the ones that are already like that.
18:21 tuxayo Ronda: Odd, I just added 100 item with barcode starting from 1 and there where no zeros, it's my first time using the feature though.
18:23 BTW, how do you physical barcode look? If there they have a fixed length like barcodes usually do, then there must be padding zeros in the human readable form
18:29 Ronda <tuxayo>I thought so, but I saw that I can generate barcodes even with a single number, for example
18:30 tuxayo So the barcode has a variable length?
18:34 Ronda ha ok here I see that all have 6 characters
18:38 <tuxayo> can it be that koha completes with zeros so that 6 characters?
18:39 tuxayo Jes, which make sense if most barcodes look like this
18:39 https://blog.librarything.com/[…]5/06/IMG_5305.jpg
18:40 The barcode itself starts with bars saying zero. So the human version reflects that
18:40 If the barcode had a variable length, they wouldn't need to pad with zeros
18:44 Ronda thank you I will continue researching
