14:28 kidclamp hi cait

14:28 AnnaBoten \_x< oleonard: 2 (3.98 seconds)
14:28 cait I was wondering about the budget management part
14:28 kidclamp what do you mean?
14:28 cait say I add a standing order for something like a serial (they are not using subscriptions) - would that be a common use case?
14:28 kidclamp yeah, or monographic series, or a database
14:29 cait ok
14:29 a databas is a good example too for my problem
14:29 so i enter what it will cost on the order... right?
14:29 kidclamp well....depends
14:29 cait so it gets encumbered
14:29 kidclamp that is what will happen, yes
14:30 cait then I receive a shipment and invoice with the amount
14:30 now i have the amount encumbered still and i have the amount in spent
14:30 Joubu chris_n: I do not think there is any. Do you have a specific question?
14:30 cait is that the intended behaviour?  (for the same year/fund that is)
14:30 kidclamp yeah, the order that is standing always remins in the basket and encumbered
14:30 cait hm
14:30 can I see it seems a bit odd?
14:30 say
14:31 kidclamp most of our libraries enter '0' to not encumber until received
14:31 cait how are libraries using this?
14:31 ah
14:31 but then... you have a big amount you might be missing in oyur budgeting
14:31 it might be nice to have an option to subtract the amount from the standing order
14:31 kidclamp ?
14:32 how would that work cait?
14:32 cait trying to phrase it in an understandable way
14:32 say the db is 1000
14:32 and you get 2 invoices
14:32 you would make the first with 500
14:32 and end up with 500 still on the standing order and 500 on spent
14:33 then the next time you get a shpiment for 500 .... standing order 0 - spent 1000 - and maybe asking to roll over to next year... or something like that
14:33 kidclamp hmm...that assumes one per budget cuycle then?
14:33 or rather it presumes the order is part of a budget cycle?
14:33 cait or another idea... which is the problem of this library: when receiving a standing order, offer to change the standing order
14:33 kidclamp so each new period you would start again?
14:34 cait i think for serials that is how you'd like it probably
14:34 or the databases
14:34 the standing order is t rick to avoid having to readd orders... isn't it?
14:34 but maybe i don't understand the use cases well enough
14:35 kidclamp yeah, it is essentially saying you are going to keep ordering on a single record, and you just receive them as they come
14:36 pinging an educator cait

15:10 cait thx andrew
15:10 something to think about a bit more maybe - we had a different idea of the workflow
15:10 andrew my understanding is that standing orders are really intended for a situaion where you have a less certain price and count — like the publisher is going to send you whatever comes up and bill you for what gets sent
15:12 cait in that case the 0 on the price mkes sense
15:12 for the order price
15:12 andrew: we are looking for a nice workflow for serial odering without using the serials module...
15:12 standing order came to mind, but maybe using the 'copy order' will be better
15:14 andrew yeah, I think that might be your better bet. maybe create a basket which seperate orders for each chunk of the database total you want to pay, receive them individually as needed through the year. next FY, duplicate those orders

19:23 testingstuff Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone knows what exactly the reasoning was for moving opacnavright into the news section.
19:23 cait chris_n: i tihnk signing is usually done without keys - if you mean the sign-off?
19:23 testingstuff: translations
19:23 wahanui translations are high on the agenda but no-one has stepped forward to fund them and the code was significantly more complex to add at the time of original submission
19:24 cait testingstuff: the interface allows you to have a text for each language installed
19:24 but also to make it more accessible i think - 19.11 has an updated html editor, that shoudl make it a bit more fun

19:27 oleonard testingstuff: The goal is to get all HTML system preferences into the news system so they're all managed in one place
19:27 cait i think em is the newer i? (emphasize instead of italic?)
19:28 testingstuff: do you have your code at hand? i can test it

19:35 testingstuff I'm on 19.05.03.000.
19:36 and I figure the html editor just doesn't like empty tags. and if there is a more advanced editor coming then I don't think i need to file a bug about this
