13:24 LeeJ cait: alright...I'll work on that this morning :)
13:24 kellym hi cait
13:24 cait LeeJ: also authorised value smissing - kellym just submitted one :)
13:25 LeeJ cait: sheesh :P
13:25 kellym i did two cait but one I might have undid!
13:26 cait i am seeing TERM - merging it in now
13:26 kellym okay I will do suggest_format again.  sorry about that
13:26 cait maybe it can be rescued
13:27 kellym After I saved, I hit close merge request
13:27 cait i think you might have accidetally closed it
13:27 yeah that means 'cancel'
13:27 kellym yes
13:27 Okay! note to self
13:27 cait i am reopening it, let's see if this works :)
13:28 kellym: are we sure they must match? just wondering, I didn't know that :)
13:28 i thought you could put anything in there now and itemtype was just the migrated value
13:28 kellym I believe so !  but maybe not…
13:29 cait hm maybe because of the pull downs in acq?
13:29 kellym that is just how it worked when I tried it- I can test again.
13:30 cait looking for the bug, one sec
13:31 This patch defines a new authorized called SUGGEST_FORMAT for populating a list of patron-understandable formats for expressing how they would prefer suggested items to be purchased.  For database upgrades, it populates it based on the value returned by the GetSupportList() routine.
13:31 https://bugs.koha-community.or[…]w_bug.cgi?id=9468
13:31 huginn` 04Bug 9468: enhancement, P5 - low, ---, kyle, CLOSED FIXED, Add ability to hide itemtypes from purchase suggestions forms
13:31 cait I think in theory you can use whatever, but haven't tested
13:32 do you want to verify? or should I merge and we put a note on the framapad to take another look?
13:33 kellym I will verify first - I can just put what suggest format is for and not include the matching part until I am sure :)
13:33 cait cool, thx!
13:34 giovo joined #koha
13:35 cait I put a comment on the merge request for rangi
13:36 the first one is still being merged - not sure why it takes so long, keepign an eye on it
13:41 LeeJ I'll be back after class
13:42 cait: random thought...perhaps in the future we should investigate some sort of "lock" for parts being worked on so time doesn't get wasted with more than one person working on something? Just a thought! :)
13:42 ttyl everyone
13:43 cait now he was too fast
13:44 @later tell LeeJ idea was to note/claim on the todo list, but doesn't quite work yet
13:44 huginn` cait: The operation succeeded.
13:44 cait kellym: don't worry if you get messages , just trying to get the first one in
13:45 kellym ok cait
13:45 Joubu marcelr: I think the change in the test makes sense (19343)
13:45 kellym you are right- they don’t have to match !
13:45 cait hm will email rangi, this one is stubborn, but your text looks perfectly fine, i think it's something on gitlab
13:45 marcelr i did not see any change Joubu
13:46 but you can unobsolete them
13:46 Joubu I am trying again
13:46 marcelr and add my signoff line haha
13:46 * cait is very happy about the contributions to sprint day :D
13:47 Joubu marcelr: yes, at least on 17.05 the test is failing without your patch.
13:47 marcelr hmm i tested 16.11
13:48 with my patch and with/without the patch that changed the test
13:49 Joubu nope, fail for me on 16.11 too

14:14 cait hah, let me check :)
14:15 it's good, merged!
14:15 well or waiting for it, it seems gitlab is doing some maintenance, so things are a bit slow
14:24 kellym great cait!
14:27 cait I did a ITEMTYPECAT authorized value also, but I got a messages saying something went wrong.  Can you check?
14:28 cait hm strange
14:28 checking
14:28 I think it should be ok now - i am seeing the change int he commits alright
14:28 https://gitlab.com/koha-commun[…]cs/commits/master
14:29 but the SUGGEST_FORMAT is a ibt stubborn
14:29 i really think it's to do with gitlab
14:29 i will try again a bit later
14:29 ah, merge conflicts on that one
14:29 will check from home, i can fix it there from my laptop
14:32 kellym okay no worries- i think I will copy what I am editing into manual into a document just in case and also to check spelling!

16:43 tcohen maybe?
16:43 wahanui maybe is a momentaneous error
16:43 cait that's a good answer :)
16:43 editing the manual?
16:43 wahanui well, editing the manual is https://wiki.koha-community.or[…]g_the_Koha_Manual
16:43 LeeJ cait: since check-url-quick.pl indicates in its perldoc that it replaces check-url.pl should I remove check-url.pl completely?
16:43 cait is check_url still in the codebase?
16:43 LeeJ cait: from what I can tell yes.
16:43 cait hm then I tihnk i'd only add a note for now
16:43 LeeJ cait: that's why I was confused.
16:43 okay
16:44 cait do we have a nice manual task for tcohen?
16:44 LeeJ hmm..let's see
16:45 tcohen If someone does QA on the configurable holdings columns in OPAC patches, I can add the eentry :_d
16:46 LeeJ content-wise...it looks like we need some authorised values documented, several notices, the cataloging plugins, I'm working on cronjobs right now..

16:47 cait https://annuel2.framapad.org/p/KohaManualTodo here
16:47 it has a list and a link
16:48 LeeJ tcohen: FYI..I just looked and Bug 18071 is a cron that hasn't been QA'd yet and we have it on the manual list :)

16:48 LeeJ just a heads up
16:49 cait: how detailed are we getting with the cronjob documentation? the old check-url.pl docs basically copies all the info from the script itself..
16:50 cait hm, I don't feel like we should do that
16:50 LeeJ I agree
16:50 cait i was thinking about removing some even, what's your feeling?
16:50 i tihnk a description what it does and what it's for and then referring to the help of the cronjob itself?
16:51 LeeJ cait: the current check-url.pl documentation is 71 lines long
16:51 cait link?

16:53 cait: I think I'm going to just merge request just the crontab.example edit..then I'm going through and "cutting the fat" from what's already there before we add more. I think the formatting for what's there should be corrected before new content goes in
16:54 cait sounds great
16:54 i think we need to cut back to get it easier to maintain for now

17:47 LeeJ @later tell cait we may not be able to just trim the fat across the board. For example, build_holds_queue's documentation is more detailed. The actual script has zero perldoc information other than a script name, description, and FIXME entries
17:47 huginn` LeeJ: The operation succeeded.
17:49 rocio joined #koha
17:50 cait LeeJ: interesting!
17:50 wahanui somebody said interesting was sometimes good and sometimes bad
17:50 cait so i think just kill the perldoc?
17:50 LeeJ I honestly don't know..
17:50 cait hm sec
17:50 LeeJ there's so much fluctuation from script doc to script doc it's hard to decide what to do
17:51 cait taking a look
17:51 LeeJ okay..because I'm at a loss haha
17:51 cait i tihnk i would remove the perl documentation
17:51 LeeJ so remove it from kohadocs?
17:52 cait yeah
17:53 it's probably outdated anyway
17:53 LeeJ okay
17:54 cait too many levels of headings there

18:09 LeeJ cait: update_totalissues.pl has to be trimmed...should I leave the credits in as it was a sponsored add? Or keep things uniform?
18:10 cait a sponsored add?
18:10 looking
18:10 LeeJ thanks!
18:10 cait ah i tihnk that's just from the perldoc
18:10 ok to remove, still in the source code
18:11 LeeJ okay!
18:11 cait we should maybe add a note somewhere to reference the syspref here
18:11 there is one that determines if you do that immediatley or with the cronjob
18:12 LeeJ cait: hm?
18:13 cait UpdateTotalIssuesOnCirc
18:13 do|do ont update a bibliographic record's total issues  count whenever an item is issued (WARNING! This increases server load  significantly; if performance is a concern, use the update_totalissues.pl cron job to update the total issues count).
18:13 not mentioned in the perl doc even :(
18:13 LeeJ cait: harumph :(
18:14 cait: how/where do you want me to word it?
18:14 cait hm let#s see
18:15 This cron job should be enabled if you have set [pref name] to not update the total issues cound immediately after checkout. ?
18:15 and linke hte pref name to the description?
18:15 hm and also maybe the warning?
18:16 Warning: updating immediately increases server load significantly...
18:18 brb - dessert :)
18:19 LeeJ I'm leaving the existing warning there but I'll add that warning and a note about the SysPref (something like -- **Note** this cronjob can be used if there is a performance concern. Otherwise, use the UpdateTotalIssuesOnCirc System Preference)
18:23 cait: I sent a merge request with the edits..let me know what you think :)
18:25 cait the updating immediately seems a bit out of context
18:26 you only updte immediately iwth the pref turned on - and then you don't need the job
18:27 it's an either or thing I think
18:28 hope i am not too picky
18:31 not sure if i am making sense

18:51 LeeJ okay!
18:52 cait: FYI...I'm also making a master list of ref links that need to be fixed..they actually say :ref: in front of the actual link and they appear to be broken formatting
18:52 cait oh?
18:53 i thought we had fixed them by ow
18:53 maybe can you send me some examples?

18:56 cait: after actually editing that line, it appears the :ref: is actually hard-coded into the source

19:54 other cronjobs have that part too
19:55 LeeJ Joubu: because I've been working with cait to remove the part labeled "Perl documentation" from the cronjobs that have it to keep consistency..I guess cait just didn't rebuild the current version because I updated several so far :)
19:57 cait can't do that - only rangi can
19:57 but he was been working on something to automate
19:57 Joubu makes sense to me to have it there
19:57 cait i think too hard to keep current
19:57 pianohacker wizzycray: there's a couple nasty records on bug 11559
19:57 huginn` 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org[…]_bug.cgi?id=11559 new feature, P5 - low, ---, jweaver, CLOSED FIXED, Professional cataloger's interface
19:57 cait another doubled up doucmentaiton to maintain
19:58 LeeJ: linking ot the chapter would be nice
19:58 * cait was talking about removing the perldoc
19:58 LeeJ cait: ooh! good idea!
19:58 I'll make note of that for tomorrow

19:59 Joubu "just" need to script something to keep them up-to-date (?)
19:59 cait heh
19:59 later?
19:59 wahanui alligator
19:59 cait we could also link to the script maybe
20:00 instead of duplicateing
20:00 duplicating
20:00 Joubu yes good idea, we could link to the git repo (using HEAD)
20:00 cait the file is not nicely structured at the moment, maybe clean-up first
20:00 hm HEAD of the branch then?
20:01 Joubu using HEAD is a very bad idea indeed :)
20:01 I am always focusing on master only...
20:02 cait you are RM... it's your job :)
20:03 LeeJ I like that idea...once everything's cleaned up of course :)
20:04 wizzycray pianohacker++
20:06 cait i think the copy&paste docs are not good - like manual and help files
20:06 need to find smarter ways
20:07 LeeJ yes!
20:07 if only we were part of a community thinktank ;D
20:07 cait :)
20:08 Joubu @later tell tcohen could you take a look at the Selenium tests Alex wrote please? Start with 19243
20:08 huginn` Joubu: The operation succeeded.

20:33 cait enjoy your evening :)
20:33 Joubu - the missing oai patch doesn't apply
20:33 LeeJ cait: you too!
20:34 Joubu cait: ?
20:37 cait Joubu: the one you asked me to check - probably that's how i missed pushing it

20:43 Joubu cait: I submit a patch, but I am not able to explode my DB currently
20:44 s/am not able to/cannot
20:47 pianohacker Is there anyone familiar with the machinations of the API / knows how to turn on debugging flags? I'm getting an empty, slient 404 when requesting a route I made (instead of the raptor not found), and I can't figure out why :(
20:47 even worse, this route used to work; I have all of the paths and definitions set up
20:57 cait explode?
20:57 pianohacker: I'd ask tcohen
21:01 Joubu: read your comment, of course will run tests

21:22 espen_ slightly tangental question but suggestions welcome: I have a legacy DVD lending library I want to import into koha rather urgently. The lending library has structured data but nothing close to MARC records. I do have ASINs in this, but have discovered that the ASIN2MARC tool no longer works. Any suggestions for a quick way to do this?
21:24 PS! I've tried Z39.50 batch lookups in MarcEdit against some local catalogues, but get too many duplicate results back!
21:24 cait sorry, don't have another idea then :(

22:59 pablo Hi all
23:00 I'm stuck trying to install Koha on Ubuntu 16.04, mariadb want to remove mysql-cient but koha-common depends on it...
23:01 I saw bug 13359, which seems was applied long ago
23:01 huginn` 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org[…]_bug.cgi?id=13359 enhancement, P5 - low, ---, koha-bugs, CLOSED FIXED, provide virtual-mysql-server Depends On to facilitate alternate mysql implementations
23:05 wizzyrea i'd sort out your mysql first
23:06 i.e. don't try to install koha until after you've got your mysql/mariadb stuff sorted first.
23:09 pablo I'll purge koha-common and try to install mariadb, but koha-common still depends on mysql-client...
23:09 wizzyrea mariadb will install something like it
23:09 iirc
23:09 pablo https://wiki.koha-community.or[…]ubuntu_-_packages is wrong?
23:11 wizzyrea I'm wondering why they specify just mariadb-server
23:12 and not mariadb-common
23:12 because that will install the client for mariadb as well.
23:14 (I think. I don't know really it's always worked for me.)
23:15 pablo No idea. What I can say is that mariadb-server remove mysql-client, and  apt-cache depends koha-common | grep mysql  show koha need it
23:15 wizzyrea it needs *a* mysql client
23:15 not *the* mysql client
23:15 mariadb should install one
23:15 pablo a package with that name
23:16 right now autoremoving all koha-common dependencies, I'll try next to install mariadb-server and only after that koha-common... Sounds strange but will try it anyway :)
23:17 wizzyrea if your server is empty, it won't hurt anything
23:23 pablo Meanwhile: I can't remember some weeks ago I could bypass this issue and install koha and mariadb, but couldn't get to the end of the rainbow due to this error on web installer:
23:23 DBIx::Class::Storage::DBI::_dbh_execute(): Duplicate entry '3-2' for key 'PRIMARY' at /usr/share/koha/lib/Koha/SearchField.pm line 38
23:24 wizzyrea was the database you were trying to install into empty?
23:24 pablo maybe I press the submit button more than once... If this may be the case I would file a bug
23:24 yes, it was a fresh install following the wiki on Ubuntu 16.04
23:24 wizzyrea that would possibly do it
23:27 papa joined #koha
23:28 pablo koha_on_debian article don't even suggest to try mysql-server way... which seems wise: I tried on Ubuntu (setting sql-mode) also without luck
23:28 wizzyrea the debian one is considered the canonical one
23:28 and it does say to use mariadb.
23:29 but it doesn't go into as much detail.
23:29 * wizzyrea is just glad people aren't following the instructions on random weblogs anymore
23:29 wizzyrea also those instructions are a wiki, so if you find a problem with them, you can edit them.
23:29 pablo sure, I fix a lot of things on Koha_on_ubuntu_-_packages
23:32 btw, Koha_on_Debian offer instal either mariadb or mysql server, in both cases koha-common before
23:32 caboose-afk joined #koha
23:51 pablo yes, I was wrong, I didn't see the pipe flag on apt-cache depends output:
23:51 |Depends: mysql-client
23:51 Depends: <virtual-mysql-client>
23:51 mariadb-client-10.0
23:51 mysql-client-5.7
