21:54 | JDatTeTakere | Brrrrr...cold in Germany |
21:54 | wizzyrea | it feels more proper to have the period. |
21:54 | cait | hm |
21:54 | JDatTeTakere | @wunder Levin |
21:54 | huginn | JDatTeTakere: The current temperature in LEVIN, Levin, New Zealand is 21.0°C (10:54 AM NZDT on November 18, 2013). Conditions: Mostly Cloudy. Humidity: 66%. Dew Point: 14.0°C. Pressure: 30.12 in 1020 hPa (Steady). |
21:56 | eythian | If you have . after No, you probably should also have one after Vol, as it indicates an abbrev. |
21:57 | JDatTeTakere | I have a conumdrum. We have a Circ rule for All Libraries for Rental Non Fiction. They are set to go out for 14 days but are actually being issued for 7 days. I have just created a new rule, just for Levin, and it's now lending for 14 days. I can go ahead and clone that rule for the other 2 libraries but I'm wondering why the original one wasn't working. |
21:58 | wizzyrea | because of the way the rules cascade. |
21:59 | if it hits a default rule for a branch, it uses that one before it gets to the more specific default
21:59 | eythian | which is kinda wrong |
21:59 | wizzyrea | yep |
21:59 | it's been that way since... 3.4-ish
22:00 | cait | hmm not sure if it's wrong - branch should overrule all libraries i think? |
22:00 | JDatTeTakere | So there must be a rule for a branch in there somewhere that is stopping the All Libraries one from working? |
22:01 | cait | if you had a patron all itemtypes or all itemtypes all patrons i think that would do it |
22:02 | wizzyrea | JDatTeTakere: I'd have to look at your rules - but yes |
22:02 | dcook joined #koha
22:03 | JDatTeTakere | I've found some old rules for Foxton and Shannon that said "7 days" - have deleted them and will test again. Thanks Liz :-) |
22:03 | eythian | cait: the general rule for those sorts of things is that the most specific should take precedence. |
22:03 | so you can have a default and then define your exceptions to that.
22:04 | cait | i think we say the same |
22:04 | maybe interpreting it differently?
22:04 | i would define a branch rule always more specific than an all items rule
22:04 | for the given branc
22:04 | h | |
22:05 | it's getting late again
22:05 | i better be quiet because probably mixing up things
22:05 | and i have to test my patch for the web installer... meh
22:06 | wizzyrea | I think it's that the branch default rule always overrides any limited default rule |
22:06 | eythian | define limited? |
22:07 | JDatTeTakere | Yes, that's what has happened. All fixed now. Happy testing @cait. |
22:07 | wizzyrea | midway default default is more specific than all default default |
22:07 | so it gets used. | |
22:08 | so if you have all, book, default, midway book default overrides it
22:09 | and there are a couple of sysprefs that affect the rule behaviour as well - such as whether to use the item's home location or current location for rules
22:10 | eythian | kinda need a nice rules api with test cases for this sort of thing. |
22:11 | wizzyrea | yes. Yes we do. |
22:11 | without it it's hard to improve the rules.
22:12 | cait | yeah... so many things we shoudl do :( |

23:08 | cait | wizzyrea: do you know how i have to enter a saional pattern? |

23:09 | butnot sure what to give for saison begins with and inner counter
23:10 | currently it gives me: spring 2013, summer 2014 :(
23:10 | eythian | you don't even like beer, cait. |
23:10 | and now you're talking about them.

23:10 | * dcook | is so lost but beer! |

23:14 | wizzyrea | i am not certain I grok what you are getting at, but I am going to test it |
23:14 | cait | i had to add a 1 to Begins with |
23:14 | * dcook | read that as add a 1 to Belgians with |
23:14 | stops being a pain in the ass
23:14 | cait | now my second issue is still 2013 and april, like it should be |
23:14 | wizzyrea | Belgian Wit? Does that even make sense? |
23:14 | cait | you all are trying to make me go to sleep right? :) |
23:15 | eythian | wizzyrea: it totally makes sense |
23:15 | * wizzyrea | is not the beer scholar that eythian is |
23:15 | wizzyrea | it sounded right... |
23:16 | cait | oh weird. |
23:16 | grr. | |
23:17 | first time it startd with spring
23:17 | now it suddenly starts with summer?
23:17 | * wizzyrea | goes ahead and tries it |
23:18 | cait | ok, you have to make it a 0 |
23:18 | in both | |
23:18 | wizzyrea | what happens if you don't put anything |
23:19 | cait | let me see |
23:19 | emptying out both begin with now and saving, then editing again
23:19 | yep stays the same
23:19 | maybe i forgot to refresh the prediction pattern the first time
23:19 | wizzyrea | I think, with seasonal |
23:20 | you don't have to do anything with the advanced.
23:20 | cait | wizzyrea: can you try something for me? |
23:20 | the locale seems not to save :(
23:20 | wizzyrea | sure |
23:20 | cait | i picked de-DE on mine, did the prediction pattern test and was happy to see my translations show up, then saved, edited again and locale is empty |
23:20 | wizzyrea | but is it in the db |
23:20 | cait | also.... my locale is de_DE - so it doesn't fall back? |
23:21 | eythian | http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Witbier#Witbier <-- wizzyrea, you'd probably like Belgian witbier |
23:21 | cait | i will check |
23:21 | wizzyrea | I love belgian witbier. |
23:21 | wit is probably my favorite.
23:21 | cait | wizzyrea: hm it seems to be, but it doesn't hsow up on editing |
23:21 | filing a bug | |
23:21 | wizzyrea | yea, so that's a display thing |
23:22 | cait | but the prediction pattern is also wrong now |
23:22 | i will try to receive one to see if that works
23:22 | wizzyrea | hm mine, with nothing in, brand new sub, looks right |
23:22 | cait | nope |
23:22 | the generated one is enlgish
23:22 | rangi | bag: you around? |
23:23 | cait | heya rangi |
23:23 | wizzyrea | did we have locale before? |
23:23 | cait | nope |
23:25 | wizzyrea | and it is supposed to translate ... what |
23:25 | there's nothing in the help about it yet
23:25 | cait | nope |
23:25 | wizzyrea | i mean what's it supposed to do |
23:28 | cait | it will control which month names and seasons you get |
23:28 | i am trying to make it show german seasons, to test my patch
23:28 | but i thinmk it didn't like me saving and editing
23:28 | wizzyrea | theoretically it should only work with FR, because the only locales that are in the code are en and fr |
23:28 | cait | which isn't nice, but i will start with a new subscription and see if that works better |
23:28 | yeah, working on a patch
23:28 | wizzyrea | or did I read that wrong |
23:29 | cait | nope you read it right, but for month names the module they used offers more i think |
23:29 | only for seasons it has nothing so they added it in
23:31 | what i wonder... it doesn't fall back to my system locale
23:31 | because my system locale is de_DE
23:31 | and i ended up with english seasons
23:31 | wizzyrea | well you would, because there are no seasons defined for DE |
23:32 | so it's good that it fell back to en
23:32 | and didn't give you an icky error.
23:33 | cait | no it isn't good, because it means my change does not work :( |
23:33 | or that there is something else going wrong
23:33 | wizzyrea | oh, well yes, that part is not good. |
23:37 | cait | wizzyrea: i think with selecting de-DE it works, now i am going to leave it empty...keep fingers crossed? |
23:37 | i tink it gets grumpy when you edit after saving
23:37 | wizzyrea | hm could be. |
23:39 | cait | hm yeah |
23:39 | and that auto-detect thing doesn't seem to work
23:39 | but that's not so easy to test really hm.
