01:49 eythian So when I translate the templates to en-NZ, I get german in one place. A little unexpected.
01:50 rangi probably some german in the po file somewhere?
01:50 eythian I guess so, haven't looked just yet
01:51 rangi i know there is some norwegian
01:51 from the normarc stuff
01:51 eythian this is in the syspref descriptions
01:51 rangi hmmm
01:51 thats the smallest of the .po files
01:52 so should be easy to check
01:53 pastebot "eythian" at 202.78.240.7 pasted "It's a problem for a few people..." (9 lines) at http://paste.koha-community.org/258
01:54 rangi hmm bad merge ?
01:54 eythian Not obviously
01:54 rangi i meant at pootle
01:54 eythian Oh, possibly
01:55 rangi funny
01:55 3.6 or master?
01:55 eythian 3.6
01:56 rangi yeah its in the file on pootle
01:56 but no idea how it got there :)

01:57 eythian yeah. Just updated them in pootle.

10:36 grharry is there a parameter to log all queries issued in the database ??
10:37 kf search queries?
10:37 grharry yes ...
10:39 I suspect that the perl fmwork blows apart after I glanced some code ... my authorities table is 290000 rows and it seems that authorities search selects them all into mem.
10:40 Or most probably I am talking rubbish ....  NEWBIE HERE
10:43 magnuse grharry: you can make mysql log all queries
10:44 http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refma[…]en/query-log.html
10:44 i think
10:44 just be aware that that log grows real big real quick, so remember to turn it off again when your curiosity is sated :-)
10:48 grharry tnx however If I may ask .... :-( after importing the authorities marc records I saw in the database table auth_header field authtypecode filed with  either ('CO,CO_UNI_TI,FAM .... etc ) which values are hardcoded in the perl code ...  what are these ???? :-|
10:48 magnuse sorry, i have no idea...
10:49 perhaps kf knows?
10:52 kf grharry: authority types
10:52 check: administration > authority frameworks :)
10:52 the type of the heading determines the type of an authority
10:52 for example
10:53 if your authority has 100 as main entry, it will be a person
10:59 grharry during my import  had 13487  errors with invalid authtypecode ... after I modified the table to enable null values in the authypecode they imported but with authtypecode='';
11:00 BTW even though the definition of the auth_header table allows EMPTY values of '' the import breaks ...

11:10 mib_jz73m4 joined #koha
11:11 mib_jz73m4 hey
11:13 grharry mib_.etc : as far as I know ( and is very little ) you have to fill the biblioitems detail table or  if item in marc record you specify the field from the admin ;
11:14 mib_jz73m4 grharry
11:14 wahanui i heard grharry was sure I did but with no success ... !! :-(
11:15 grharry search and U shall find !!!
11:16 mib_jz73m4 in my opac no item available but i fill all biblio
11:17 hey
11:20 grharry with out being certain issue this to check your database:  select count(*) from biblioitems, biblio where biblioitems.biblioitemnumber = biblio.biblionumber;
11:21 kf grharry: I think null values are not good here. you should always have a main entry for your authorities
11:26 mib_jz73m4: I think you might want to reindex, filling biblioitems manually is not a good idea
11:26 mib_jz73m4: do you have items added to your records?

18:41 rangi Yup
18:43 jcamins oleonard does have a point about there being a lot of bus-riding. I guess we're very environmentally conscious.

19:05 I am excited to see the server side execution of data tables. That should speed up checkouts.
19:06 Right now our circ stations are on xp, java execution is slow and patrons with lots of checkouts take forever as the table refreshes.
19:06 cait i think you will see some improvement in that part with 3.6/3.8
19:06 data_doctor very cool!
19:13 cait I know some work was done to make circ faster
19:16 wizzyrea circ is much better now

19:50 rangi i still think for db stuff we should be looking at DBIX::Class::Schema .. not trying to reinvent the wheel
19:57 mbalmer rangi, are you one of the ORM proponents?
19:57 rangi no
19:57 mbalmer good ;)
19:57 rangi i didnt propose DBIx::Class
19:58 but DBIx::Class::Schema
19:58 and ::Versioned
19:59 mbalmer layers of abstraction on top of layers of abstraction on top of layers of abstraction etc. ;)
19:59 rangi the schema allows you to deploy a db on any dbi compatible database, without having to putz around with different .sql files
20:00 mbalmer .. and without taking any of the advantages ot the underlying database either
20:01 rangi ps im still waiting on an apology for you calling people i respect stupid and thick
20:02 mbalmer continue to wait, then.
20:02 rangi http://git.workbuffer.org/cgi-[…]712d53363d7328037
20:02 excellent, im glad i wasnt wrong in my opinion then .. good to know
20:03 mbalmer what's up with you?  looking for an argument?
20:04 rangi nope
20:04 mbalmer is MEDIUMTEXT standard SQL or MySQL only?
20:05 rangi the schema translates it using dbi
20:05 into the appropriate value for the underlying db
20:06 mbalmer so it knows you modelled you schema after MySQL and is able to translate this into, lets say SYBASE or PostgreSQL?
20:06 rangi yes
20:06 mbalmer smart!
20:07 rangi even sqlite
20:07 which is handy for running tests
20:07 mbalmer how do you specifiy which DB dialct you use?
20:09 schuster hmmm rangi thank you for this discussion today on schema translates - I know someone interested in that...
20:10 rangi mbalmer: it uses http://search.cpan.org/~jrobin[…]SQL/Translator.pm
20:10 to do the translation
20:10 mbalmer maybe it would be better to use only standard SQL data types.
20:10 rangi and when you  create your schema object you can tell it what db to connect to
20:10 then when you run deploy, it knows how to translate
20:11 yup, that was just one i created to deploy a postgres instance
20:11 so created one from the existing mysql db, deployed on postgres
20:11 once you have the schema files of course its easy to change them to be standard types
20:12 mbalmer I am scared by all these Perl libraries, they seem to solve every problem out there….
20:12 need to take a closer look at this module.
20:13 tnx for the pointer
20:13 rangi look at http://search.cpan.org/~abraxx[…]x/Class/Schema.pm too

20:32 cjh jcamins: re. work on bug 7248 when comparing it to the old linker script it appears the older one linked some bibs the newer one mixed, I didnt run either with any flags or options, was I doing something wrong?

20:32 Space_Librarian ;)
20:33 jcamins cjh: what were the headings that didn't link?
20:34 Actually, first question, what are you using to determine that?
20:34 I fixed a bug in the linker script's verbose option... the old linker reported modifying bibs that it didn't actually change.
20:34 cjh yeah i noticed the modified numbers didnt make sense, but I ignored them
20:35 I just did some quick searching in auths/bibs to compare and noticed the older script seems to have caught cases the newer missed
20:35 jcamins Hrm.
20:35 It probably shouldn't be doing that.
20:35 cjh so nothing scientific, but the newer script linked j k rowling once, the older 32 times.
20:36 jcamins !!
20:36 cjh nothing scientific, it was a very quick and rough check
20:36 jcamins Wait.
20:36 How did you count those?
20:36 cjh from the auths search page, 'used in' 'n biblios'
20:37 jcamins cjh: that's going to be inaccurate for a while.
20:37 cjh until a reindex?
20:37 jcamins That's from Zebra.
20:37 Right.
20:37 Well, or until zebraqueue catches up.
20:37 cjh I reindexed before running, cant remember if i did afterwards
20:37 * cjh runs off to check
20:37 jcamins Reindex isn't required, but it'll take a complete run-through.
20:38 (that is, no -r needed, but the -z will take a while)
20:43 * jcamins should have noted that in the commit message.
20:43 jcamins Of course, that additional paragraph might have put everyone to sleep.
20:43 cjh -a -z -b should suffice?
20:43 heh
20:43 jcamins Yup.

20:46 trea hi there rangi
20:47 jcamins (unless you mean you were using one of the work-in-progress versions of patch 1, which definitely might cause issues)
20:47 trea trying to figure out why a fresh package install shows up as being in maintenance, even after I run koha-enable
20:47 rangi have you run the webinstaller side?
20:47 ie hit the staff side?
20:47 jcamins trea: webinstaller hasn't run yet?
20:47 rangi snap
20:48 trea that's prob true. didn't see the URL for the installer in the docs
20:48 i could have misread
20:48 rangi when you set up your conf
20:48 you would have set a suffix or prefix?
20:48 so the url will be
20:48 instancename-suffix.blah.blah
20:49 eg demo-intra.catalyst
20:49 trea ah. that would do it. haven't setup any dns yet.
20:49 it's not on one of ours. just a demo for a potential client
20:49 rangi ah right
20:49 trea so it's just on IP at present
20:50 rangi yeah you'll need to either edit the apache conf for it
20:50 to put it on a port
20:50 or get some dns
20:50 trea ok
20:50 easy enough
20:50 jcamins trea: if you're only accessing it from one computer, you can just use /etc/hosts.
20:50 rangi or that
20:51 * jcamins always likes to have an option C.
20:51 jcamins :)
20:51 trea true
20:52 * rangi wanders off to do invoicing
20:52 * oleonard hits himself on the thumb with a hammer to make rangi feel better about doing invoicing

20:53 jcamins Getting paid is kind of nice, though.

21:01 * Space_Librarian speaks from experience
21:02 cait no idea what that means :)
21:03 trea okay, got the installer working at least. can i pick arabic as the primary language from the web installer?
21:03 jcamins nengard just demonstrated.
21:03 cait trea: no
21:03 jcamins trea: I wouldn't, but I suppose technically you could.
21:03 cait oh
21:03 you can
21:03 jcamins cait: you can't?
21:03 cait but you would have to install the templates first
21:03 and there are no sample files
21:04 trea okay, but i can just change it after the fact to arabic
21:04 cait so it would hopefully fall back to english files anyway
21:04 jcamins: does i18n work now with packages?
21:04 wizzyrea yea is the procedure the same for installing translations in packages?
21:04 * wizzyrea didn't know
21:05 cait wizzyrea: afaik there is something not finished yet with trnaslations and packages
21:05 eythian will know I guess?
21:05 or magnus_afk
21:06 jcamins cait: it's a bit tricky.
21:06 wizzyrea that seems odd as i'm pretty sure eythian et al run packages with the en-NZ
21:06 translation
21:06 wahanui somebody said translation was done through the pref files
21:07 jcamins wizzyrea: well, not tricky in the sense of "gee, that's difficult."
21:07 More in the sense of "you have to roll your own packages."
21:08 wizzyrea hm
21:10 jcamins trea: if the staff client is actually translated into Arabic, though, you might have a bit of trouble demoing.
21:10 trea: unless you speak Arabic?
21:10 trea it's only necessary to get the server online
21:10 we won't actually be demo'ing it for them
21:10 but it's required that it use arabic
21:11 jcamins Ah.
21:15 Waylon (formerly genji) is the #koha denizen with the most experience using Koha with Arabic, as far as I know.
21:15 He's using an old, very-hacked version, though.
21:20 eythian wizzyrea, trea: there are some experimental packages that build languages, but at the moment we just build it the normal way, that works fine.
21:20 trea okay, what's "the normal way"
21:20 :D
