00:50 jcamins_away Figured out why Zebra died.
00:50 Ran out of space.
00:50 rangi ahhh that'd do it
00:50 jcamins_away Maybe we should up the default size for the Zebra biblios configuration to something sane?
00:51 rangi whats it currently set to?
00:51 jcamins_away 4G.
00:51 mtj yes please!
00:51 rangi yeah
00:51 thats a patch ill accept as a bugfix
00:51 so you have until the 8th :)
00:51 * jcamins_away doesn't think he's ever seen a library that didn't run out of space.
00:51 rangi actually later
00:51 mtj bah, who set that? bill gates?

01:44 eythian if you cancel a transaction, and it's partially paid off, how should that be handled? Just cancel the remaining amount, or remove the payments from it and cancel the whole thing?

01:52 wizzyrea eythian: well if the library has received money it seems the patron should get a credit?
01:52 and cancel the remaining amount
01:53 so credit for what they've paid, and cancel the remainder
01:53 eythian OK, that seems reasonable.
01:54 wizzyrea idk if you want to go so far as to implement some kind of refund mechanism
01:58 eythian Well, I'll do what's reasonably easy, it can always be changed later.

02:13 rangi hi ether
02:15 Ahmuck_ joined #koha
02:15 ether my friend had a problem with a deleted subfield
02:15 hi rangi
02:15 from the default framework
02:16 rangi they have deleted one?
02:19 ether when we go to the framework editor and add it back (100 subfield a)to the default framework its not showing under tab 1 where it should be...instead its showing under tab 0 by itself
02:20 at the end of tab 0
02:20 rangi and have you set it to show on tab 1?
02:20 * rangi asks the obvious questions first :)
02:20 ether yes
02:21 100 ? - MAIN ENTRY--PERSONAL NAME −
02:21 Move Up Personal name ...
02:21 then tab 1 still has a 100 tag but it missing the a subfield
02:21 rangi right the subfield bit
02:22 is that on tab 1
02:22 ether tab 0
02:22 rangi thats the problem
02:22 cgi-bin/koha/admin/marc_subfields_structure.pl?op=add_form&tagfield=100&frameworkcode=#morea
02:22 make sure that your subfields are set to tab 1 too
02:22 ether whilst tab 1 has the rest of items
02:24 * jcamins_away distributes cookies to #koha
02:24 ether in the framework setup for default the other subfields and subfield a are all set to tab 1  for tag 100
02:24 jcamins_away ether: try changing it from tab 1 to something else, then change it back.
02:25 eythian jcamins_away: setCookie('#koha', 'chocolate', 86400);
02:25 ether the thing is eversince they deleted subfield a by clicking on the delete this subfield widget it hasnt being able to show back on tab 1
02:26 jcamins_away ether: did you try my suggestion?
02:26 eythian: actually, try this:
02:26 ether i had tried that before i tried all the available tabs but it neve goes to them
02:26 jcamins_away setCookie('#koha', 'sandtart (chocolate chip with a hint of lemon)', 86400);
02:26 :)
02:26 ether: are you using memcached?
02:27 ether yes
02:27 eythian I'll accept that
02:27 rangi restart memcached for good measure
02:27 ether hold on
02:28 * jcamins_away realizes suddenly that it's only March 31 in the US.
02:30 ether bravo !!!
02:31 well that had me stooped all day and only if i had restarted the service...lol i thought about restarting the server but figured there must be an alternate
02:33 is there a way to do quick framework copy? like a backup so to speak?
02:33 jcamins_away ether: not yet.
02:33 eythian creating a new framework lets you clone it from another one
02:33 if that's what you mean
02:34 ether yes thats what i mean...cloning
02:34 jcamins_away ether: the problem with that is that people can modify the new framework too.
02:34 (usually that's what you want, but not for a backup)
02:35 bug 5478
02:35 huginn 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org[…]w_bug.cgi?id=5478 enhancement, PATCH-Sent, ---, salva, ASSIGNED, Automate MARC framework import/export
02:35 rangi ether: i mysqldump the framework tables
02:35 eythian what'd I'd likely do for a real backup is dump the relevant tables.
02:35 snap
02:35 rangi what he said ;)
02:36 ether i think we need also to get the ldap integration to a point where it can bind as auth
02:37 rangi for active directory?
02:37 ether i've a ldap deployment that is hierarchical and the bind tend to be dependent on the container hierarchy
02:38 openldap
02:38 rangi that shouldnt be hard
02:38 <auth_by_bind>0</auth_by_bind> <!-- set to 1 to authenticate by binding instead of password comparion -->
02:39 looks like someone has started
02:39 ether i think i might be hard when a student for example put in his/her login name and password
02:39 rangi at least
02:40 jcamins_away Is "auth by bind" a phrase made up by someone in the Koha project?
02:40 ether he/she isnt aware of the complete bind and as a result the bind thats created for authentication might not be correct
02:40 here's an example
02:40 jcamins_away I tried to look up what "auth by bind" was, and almost all the results were from Koha lists.
02:42 ether cn=ether,ou=humanities,ou=sciences,ou=student,ou=users,dc=example,dc=net
02:43 rangi yeah, thats how active directory does it
02:43 ether thats say one student now student two could be this
02:43 rangi yup, it still uses username
02:43 ether cn=student2, ou=it,ou=student,ou=users,dc=example,dc=net
02:44 rangi http://search.cpan.org/~gbarr/[…]/lib/Net/LDAP.pod
02:44 ether in that scenario the bind have desimilar ou strings and desimilar # of ou's
02:44 rangi is what koha uses
02:44 have a read up, and send a patch ;)
02:49 what timezone are you in ether ?
02:50 ether with koha only taking the username and appending it to the base then it might endup creating something like this cn=eter,ou=users,dc=example,dc=net  & cn=student2,ou=users,dc=example,dc=net
02:50 gmt -5 2151
02:50 still march no april fools yet
02:51 jcamins_away Ooh, good news! You still have time to get your fix into 3.4. :)
02:51 rangi in that case you have about 24 hours to get a patch in, to beat the feature freeze
02:51 :)
02:51 jcamins_away (not a joke... that's why there have been so many patches in the last week)
02:51 * jcamins_away wasn't able to get the last feature from the Numismatic Society done.
02:51 jcamins_away It'll wait until 3.6. :(
02:51 rangi http://koha-community.org/koha[…]pril-coming-fast/
02:52 its only 6 months away
02:52 :)
02:52 jcamins_away I know. :)

02:56 ether the thing is that i dont know if ldap exports any way for you to locate the correct container for a user without first having to use a known bind. as a result of active directory automatically binding to the basedn its easy to auth by bind with AD as you just student1@example.net and all other users the same regardless of there containers
02:57 btw  i noticed liblime posting the correct latest koha of late
02:57 rangi orly?
02:57 ether and they dont strip the links to the community except that they hosting the file themselves
02:58 rangi still lists 3.2.5
02:58 down underneath their harley fork
02:58 3.2.6 is the most recent release
02:58 ether true but at least not the old outdated they used to hac\ve
02:58 rangi been out 10 days
02:59 so its only mostly out of date
02:59 and they still are trying to force a trademark in nz
02:59 so yeah, they still suck
03:00 ether lol i've yet to update.. last time i did it replaceed my customization i hade to go rename the kohaconf an others
03:00 jenkins_koha Starting build 99 for job Koha_master (previous build: SUCCESS)
03:00 mtj i love how ptfs/liblime still try to hide the correct download address, on the K0HA.org front-page
03:00 rangi yeah, without the md5 hash
03:01 until they stop being evil, i have no time for them
03:01 ether and the default koha installation needs to set some directory directives for apache
03:01 mtj and their mirror usually outdated, and corrupt :/
03:01 rangi ether: send a patch
03:01 the debian packages do that already
03:02 so you could copy whats there
03:02 you might not run koha with apache of course too
03:02 ether i have created a patch but my hdd had problems which resulted my git clone being lost before i got it posted
03:03 mtj i backup my dev git repos to a mirror, using rdiffbackup...
03:03 rangi ahh, you might want to get a gitorious account so you can push to it
03:04 i use that for backup
03:04 mtj backup the backup ;)
03:05 ok, back to it, foks...
03:05 folks even
03:05 *snort*
03:05 had a 'meet the parents' moment, there
03:06 rangi heh
03:07 ether well i wonder then if it necessary to make a patch since other options for installation have it fixed.. and since only a few people might install without using packages

14:38 schuster oleonard - question about the tmpl - what html version are most of them written in?  anything with XHTML?
14:38 oleonard All of them should be valid XHTML (Transitional). You can find this out by viewing source on any Koha page.
14:39 schuster Again that may not make sense, because I'm not always sure I am asking it right and it may be really old what I am refering to!
14:39 OK thanks!  My boss is hot and heavy about a mobile presence so I'm doing some investigation with css etc...
14:40 wizzyrea schuster: library anywhere works well
14:40 and there's an android app for koha
14:40 schuster I thought I had something that used the Z39.50 standard for the catalog but it was written in php and the php-yaz has not been updated in almost 3 years so the dependancies are out of date.
14:40 wizzyrea kiritiaki koha is the android app
14:40 schuster We don't want an app she is looking for mobile web so it would be more device agnostic
14:41 wizzyrea right, library anywhere works on every type of smartphone you'd be compelled to use
14:41 schuster I have seen it and looks great, but alas - they bought Ipod touches for all the principals - education ya know.
14:41 wizzyrea and it's not terribly expensive
14:41 oleonard Or someone can give me a bucket of money and I'll take a leave of absence and write a mobile version for Koha
14:42 * wizzyrea looks around for the spare buckets
14:42 schuster Well that's another problem - ...  she doesn't want to put any money out!

14:49 chris_n jwagner: if it applies only to 3.2.x just add [3.2.x] in the subject line of the patch; otherwise just note it in the comments in the patch
14:50 jwagner chris_n I wrote it against current head; not sure how to mark it that way.
14:50 oleonard jwagner: Why do you want to flag it for inclusion in 3.2.x then?
14:51 schuster wizzyrea yes do tell how does it work???
14:51 jwagner Because it's a bug fix for a situation that could cause data loss.
14:52 chris_n jwagner: just check to see if it applies against the 3.2.x branch ok; if it does just note the need of inclusion in the comments; if not, submit a second patch against 3.2.x with [3.2.x] in the subject line
14:52 all patches that are not "new" features which are applied to master get applied to 3.2.x as long as they apply
14:53 hmm... well, you get the drift
14:53 jwagner chris_n, I don't presently have a server with 3.2.x installed, just one tracking current head.  I can see if my IT people will set one up for me, but it may take a while.
14:53 chris_n if they don't apply cleanly, they need to be submitted as a separate patch
14:53 oleonard jwagner: VirtualBox++
14:54 chris_n jwagner: if a patch applied to master does not apply cleanly to 3.2.x, my habit is to reply to the submitter saying as much and then wait for a 3.2.x patch

17:10 oleonard The "add a mapping" fieldset is floated left, and I think the problem you're having is that there is not a clearing element after it

19:01 wizzyrea didn't they go back to horizon :P
19:01 or am I thinking of someone else
19:01 tcohen hi rangi
19:02 do u prefer that I populate those sysprefs as default values for rebuild_zebra.pl?
19:05 #koha, have a nice weekendd
19:05 cait left #koha
19:05 gmcharlt tcohen: yes, as not breaking things is nice
19:05 (assuming I'm understasnding the question correctly)
19:06 tcohen gmcharlt: i called "refactor rebuild_zebra.pl as a library" a bug
19:06 and chris pointed out that i didn't touch rebuild_zebra.pl
19:06 and as I introduce zebra reindexing controlling sysprefs
19:07 it could be a bit confusing
19:07 the fact that  those prefs don't apply to those who run rebuild_zebra.pl from cron

19:23 ether oleonard, i got the subfield thingy fixed, it was actually showing at the end of tab 0 instead of tab 1, a restart of memcache end up putting it back on tab1
19:25 oleonard Yeah I saw that. Was that you talking about the same issue on the mailing list?

20:35 wizzyrea you know
20:35 the only time i've ever seen items deleted without issues
20:35 items deleted while still issued*
20:36 was with batch delete in theilsthatshallnotbenamed (and we found that way late in the game)
20:38 cait ouch
20:39 wizzyrea and apparently if you revert a batch of records after they've circ'd
20:39 which I don't see a bug for
20:39 oh hi cait!
20:39 cait hi wizzyrea :)

20:59 rangi haha I just made more work for you guys
20:59 ... oh wait
21:00 wizzyrea ! ?
21:00 haha good one
21:04 rangi I can't believe ppl knew of those 2 bugs and didn't report them
21:05 wizzyrea me either
21:05 rangi understanding your part in this fail
21:05 wizzyrea that's a pretty big deal
21:05 lost data like that is a big no no
21:07 rangi its quite useful for me
21:08 cos I had an argument with biblibre about deleting items when deleting an order
21:09 wizzyrea if you delete the items they can't be on issue, that should be a universal
21:09 rule
21:09 cait reading the mails right now
21:09 I think  the second one was reported
21:09 the one about delete all items on staff detail page
21:09 wizzyrea yea 3597
21:10 cait I actually thought it was fixed
21:10 wizzyrea bug 3597
21:10 huginn 04Bug http://bugs.koha-community.org[…]w_bug.cgi?id=3597 normal, P1, ---, gmcharlt, ASSIGNED, "Delete all items" doesn't check issues
21:10 cait ah
21:10 wizzyrea it says it's fixed
21:10 open because of no indication that some items were not deleted bc they were on issue
21:11 cait hm ok
21:11 sekjal left #koha
21:11 wizzyrea i'm gonna check it right now
21:12 3597 is fixed
21:12 i just tested that in master
21:12 or something very close to master
21:12 and it even has the message
21:12 "cannot delete item is checked out"
21:13 going to double check items with transit statuses, or waiting
21:16 ah it still doesn't catch transit status or waiting, but that's less of an issue I think
21:17 though the patron would have gotten a notification
21:17 and then the library wouldn't have been able to issue it because it would be gone
21:17 http://screencast.com/t/Lh5vwCxetec
21:17 rangi yep
21:18 maybe say oh look its fixed, what version are u running
21:18 wizzyrea ya, that was my next step
21:18 ;)
21:18 rangi thanks
21:19 could be they are running a fork
21:19 or old version
21:19 wizzyrea mhm

21:26 wizzyrea bye, happy saturday
21:27 cait have a nice weekend :)
21:31 wizzyrea bah caught in moderation
21:33 is this a crazy idea
21:33 disallow non-superlibrarians from editing saved reports created by superlibrarians
21:34 or at least allow superlibrarians to flag items as "not editable by non-superlibrarians)
21:34 "
21:34 flag reports*
21:36 i forget, it's friday
21:36 ether left #koha
21:37 cait wizzyrea: someone killed you reports?
21:37 wizzyrea well yes, and no
21:37 we set up parameters
21:37 and they went in and took them out and put in their branch name
21:37 but wrong
21:38 so they ditdn't work
21:38 killed is a strong term ;)
21:38 cait hehe
21:38 but it's good
21:38 you have the branchcode
21:38 wizzyrea but enough that it made me want to be able to mark some reports as no touchy to mere users :P
21:39 cait jquery?
21:39 wahanui rumour has it jquery is client side, so it doesn't have anything to do with the templating system
21:39 cait makes it not impossible, but harder
21:39 wizzyrea well, not all though
21:39 only some
21:40 I suppose you could craft a jquery that looked for the userid and hid the edit link
21:40 sometimes my first thought is too restrictive :P
21:40 cait hehe
21:40 wizzyrea and my 2nd thought is oh yea, that's how that could work
21:40 cait yes, you could do that
21:40 or you can give them a second chance
21:40 write a mail: DONT DO THAT PLEASE
21:40 wizzyrea but I'd hate to have to remove that when a superlibrarian is logged in to edit them
21:40 yes, there is that
21:41 ultimately it's a people problem
21:41 cait ah right, the superlibrarian needs to edit them
21:41 wizzyrea they'll have to be flagged as DO NOT EDIT
